Guest guest
I get it also, I wonder if anyone else get this crunching sound, it gets pretty bad and the popping and cracking too. Guest guest
Hi ! Welcome to our group! I'm glad to hear that you've been reading and making your way around the board. Knowledge and understanding of how this program will be very helpful in healing your candida overgrowth once and for all. I'll try to answer your questions: 1) I have heard about the dangers of ketosis when you don't eat carbs .. . . any comments on this? What you've probably heard is ketoacidosis which is a condition that people with people with diabetes can get. Ketosis is the state when the body is running on fats as opposed to glucose. The body actually prefers to run on ketones, so it's not an issue. Here is what wikipedia says about ketoacidosis, but remember that is different from ketosis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketoacidosis In any event, carbs are classified as foods that are not protein or fat and on Bee's diet, we eat plenty of carbs, just not the really sugary/starchy ones. 2) I am still scared of eating all the fats and meat . . . are people's cholesterol levels going down? There is no need to worry about eating fats. Your cholesterol might go up, but that is to be expected. Did you know that high cholesterol is not dangerous? Dr. Uffe Ravnskov writes about it in his book: http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm (specifically look at #9, The Benefits of Cholesterol) My husband has been going over some scientific research and has found that the medical community recognizes that laurates (in coconut oil) do not cause heart disease and that they increase cholesterol. It is also well documented that as the body detoxifies, it produces more cholesterol as needed. As for the meat... Remember that this is not a high protein diet. You need only eat a moderate amount of meat, fish and eggs. Hope that helps to ease your mind. > > Hi Bee and Group, > > My name is , I am almost 60 and have been working on candida on > and off for about 10 years. <snip> > > > A few questions: 1. Guest guest
I too get very cold; my muscles contract so much that the blood flow is reduced. Muscle relaxers are more important to me than pain medication. I can have serious problems if I do not watch my extremities - partly because I can not feel them well; I get blood blisters just under the top layer of skin. if I deal with these properly they are not a problem but can develop into ulcers if untreated. Doctors find this curious but suspect it is short circuited nerves contracting the muscles. I sleep under blankets when others install air conditioners. I love summer. Guest guest
It's not related to your back pain. It's related to kidney yang deficiency, another symptom of which is back and leg weakness and pain. It can be successfully treated. Both are warming and cayenne will definitely enhance your blood and blood flow. To build blood, you can try juicing. Raw vegetable and fruit juice. Put just a SMALL SMALL SMALL piece of raw ginger root in there. It's pungent quality is very strong. Too much raw juice can cause loose bowels, so be careful with that. You can use it as a bowel cleanse if you want. Might wanna wait until your mobility increases for that, though. There are some excellent acupuncture points to increase internal warmness, including one on the spine called Du 4. This increases " life gate fire. " There are also some great herbs. Garlic is also pungent and warming, plus it has a function of killing most germs, whether bacteria, virus or fungi. Coconut has the same properties, only it's merely warming instead of " hot. Guest guest
I also live in Georgia and stay cold all the time. My fingers turn a ghostly white if I stay outside any length of time at all. After my Lamenectomy I developed Raynaud's Disease. I don't know if the damage to my spinal cord nerves did it or it just happened to show up at that time. > > It's not related to your back pain. Guest guest
Initially I was diagnosed with Raynaud's Disease by several experts; my left side, hand and foot and their digits, became cold-white. I accepted this but one expert did not accept it without Ankle Brachial Index test (ABI) which showed it was not the case - we later learned that it depended on the day; some days would have indicated a positive and other days showed that to be a false positive result. My log for that test follows: ------------------------------------- 05-28-03 ankle brachial index - AOK Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) seemed normal, and showed no hint of vascular disease. The test accurately measures blood pressure with Doppler technology in three places on each side. Measured at the arm the numbers were both about 128. At the ankles, my measured index was about 1.2 and it needs to be at least 1.0. At the big toes, my index number was about .8 and it needs to be at least ..75. Additionally, tri-phase rhythmus are found everywhere. Disease causes bi-phased or eventually mono-phased rhythms. ------------------------------------- From there I (we) had to fight for an NMRI - that took a very long year as I remember it. Guest guest
Raynaud's Disease is quite treatable by TCM. There are some great herbs to promote blood flow in the extremeties as well. You might try some cayenne. Question >> >> >> >I haven't seen anything show up on this board about this and I'm >> >wondering >> > if it is connected to my 5 back surgeries and fusion of L3-L5. Guest guest
I was advised to use cayenne, ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric too, I believe - even though I ended up not having Raynaud's, I still had/have the same symptoms - so I added these three into my 'normal' diet. I believe it has been helpful. There are many in this group who obviously know much more about the natural herbs and spices - so this list should be doubled checked with someone more knowledgeable than me before relying on it - but I was advised to use all four for some reason, and it is easy to use them to make my food taste better anyway; So I do! Guest guest
yes, I'm also hoping that Kathy just made a typo, Calvin - 375 mg of Vicodin would be a whole lot. I take 6 of the 10/500 mg tabs a day, so I take 60 mg - 375 would be very bad. Maybe she meant 3.75 mg (if they make that?)? Jenn ps Calvin, how are you feeling post-op? I take 6 of the 10/500 mg tabs a day, so I take 60 mg - 375 would be very bad. Maybe she meant 3.75 mg (if they make that?)? Jenn ps Calvin, how are you feeling post-op? Guest guest
To avoid the large amount of Tylenol normally found in the Vicodin - I was switched to Hydrocodone-Ibuprof 7.5Mg/200Mg. Guest guest
HI Vince Does that kill the pain better because of the anti inflamatory in it??? I hear people on here say not to take the anti inflam cause they want the inflamation to help heal. I can always ask my dr about it cause I've never heard of it before. Guest guest
right From: Kathy Denk <biloxibelle@...> Subject: RE: Question spinal problems Date: Monday, March 9, 2009, 11:39 AM Calvin I'm taking 1/2 of a 750mg vicodin or 750/7.5mg It's probably 750 acemephin (sp) & 7.5 vicodin. Just making sure I read your message correctly. Is that one 7.5 mg. vicodin taken three times daily? If so, please know that I'm sitting here with egg on my face. That's doing well for being pre-op. I had a friend once that didn't know the dangers of taking large amounts of acetaminophen containing products so I just had to write to be sure. With utmost concern and very best wishes, Calvin pinchot13495@ clearwire. net Question I haven't seen anything show up on this board about this and I'm wondering if it is connected to my 5 back surgeries and fusion of L3-L5. I am constantly sleepy and cold. If I lay down because my back hurts, I will fall asleep within 15 minutes and sleep for several hours -- even the phone doesn't wake me up. Some nights I go to bed at 9:30 pm and my husband wakes me up at 12:45 pm when he comes home for lunch. I also stay cold all the time. If I do something that uses my back (shopping, walking a long distance, etc.) I will become so cold that I crawl in bed with the electric blanket on high for a couple hours. Sometimes I don't even have to have done anything -- I'm just plain cold! Could these symptoms be related to my back failure or would it be something else? The only pain meds I take are Tramadol 50 mg 3 times a day and Neurontin 300 mg at bedtime. Dawn in Georgia
