Guest guest
Good keep us posted. I am betting you don't have Grave's. TSH should be very low when tested using a high sensitivity assay. Guest guest
at one point in the last couple of months my tsh was .9 also, I had surgery on a deviated septum and the day after the surgery is when my bp went nuts, it was normally around 150/90, and the week after the surgery it was up to like 170/116, bouncing all around, I was thinking thyroid storm, if I have hyperthyroidism. Guest guest
I dont know what assay was used or what the numbers have to be to suspect Grave's in that lab.On Oct 30, 2009, at 1:17 PM, bridget wrote: at one point in the last couple of months my tsh was .9 also, I had surgery on a deviated septum and the day after the surgery is when my bp went nuts, it was normally around 150/90, and the week after the surgery it was up to like 170/116, bouncing all around, I was thinking thyroid storm, if I have hyperthyroidism. Guest guest
they say with hyperthyroidism if it's untreated when your body has stress, the thyroid controls some of that stuff, and if it's already hyperactive or underactive it can cause your body to do goofy stuff. I read it somewhere online about the amounts of adrenaline or something. Not sure, just am trying desperately to make sense of my symptoms while waiting for bloodwork. Guest guest
> Hi Bee, > > I'm not sure if you missed this so I'm reposting. > Thank-you, Doree +++Hi Doree. Thank you for reposting your message - I did miss it. > > > Do you think Graves Disease would be curable on your diet? > > > > I read in your personal story that you had to have radiation therapy to kill your thyroid because of Grave's disease. My 16 year old niece has had juvenile diabetes since she was about 5 and has just been diagnosed with Graves. I'd like to encourage her and her family to try your diet. +++I developed Grave's Disease because of overtreating my thyroid while I was curing my candida 24 years ago. That's because my thyroid was starting to recover/normalize - I didn't know it would back then - so it went into a tizzy from low to very high (Grave's). Now I know that organs are going to recover as you heal, so I advise people to not take extra iodine and to lower thyroid meds soon enough. +++Your neice cannot go wrong doing this program since it can turn her diabetes around which is caused by high carbs/sugars. Hopefully her thyroid would also normalize, but her healing depends upon her committment. > > > > By the way, I've been on your diet since Oct 2008 and most of my candida symptoms are either significantly diminished or gone. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Hello - I am so sorry to hear of your suffering and I hope we will be able to help and support you. What doctors do not realise is the many conditions that go along with being hypothyroid that need treating, BEFORE giving thyroid hormone replacement. You can read about these in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk under 'Hypothyroidism' and then under 'Associated Conditions'. Do read about these and if you have any questions - just shout. I have also attached for you here a document that tells you a little more about why thyroid hormone won't work until you have found out, by a process of elimination what is stopping it from working. Read this and then let us know if any of these could be your problem. Ask your GP to test your blood for ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc to see whether any of these are low in the reference range. When you get the results, post them here together with the reference range for each of the tests done. We can talk you through the other problems that you may be suffering once you have read the document. Luv - Sheila Hello. My name is . I live in British Columbia Canada and I was diagnosed with graves disease just over 2 years ago. I had lost a lot of weight, had severe trembling, fast pulse, high BP, huge goiter and my eyes were and still are very pushed out. I went throughout two radio active iodines treatments, (that ended up killing my thyroid all together)was put on beta blockers and a few other medications to slow down my heart rate and help with my thyroid condition. I'm now on thyroxine everyday and I still feel terrible and my doctor does not seem to get it. I get my blood taken every month to check my levels and it's always changing. I ended up in the hospital again this past week because I get so shaky that I felt like I'm going to pass out. I feel like my thyroid medication is not helping my disease and I really just want to get back to the way I use to be before all this started. Can you please point me in a better direction. Guest guest
I, too, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which the doctors immediately classified as "Graves Disease"....They nuked my thyroid and now I take synthroid... I don't have the eye issues associated with Graves, and the endocrinologist (a great man) admitted to me that basically when they don't know why you have hyperthyroidism, they lump it into "Graves". That being said, I do have MS, which they say I've had for years, and I'm on my fourth month of LDN. But I still take my synthroid (.88 mg)...for now I guess... I'm not sure what your story is. Do you still have your thyroid, etc.?
