In the last couple of weeks my wife has reported having a " crushing pain " - " Like an iron hand on her chest and another on her back, suddenly squeezing really hard and taking her breath away - she had to lie down and ride it out for what seemed to be 5 to 10 minutes - and then it was like it never happened " . Has anyone experienced anything like this? (She's had Lyme since May of 2008.)
Guest guest
I used to get this several times a month. Interestingly, it seemed to only happen a few minutes after taking my morning meds. At the time I was on mepron, plaquenil, cipro, and zithromax. It literally felt like I was being crushed under a gigantic weight. Thankfully most of the time I was already sitting on the couch, because once it hit it was extremely difficult to move anything. I wondered at the time if it was a sudden and severe drop in blood pressure. Still think that might have been the case, though I never could 'catch' the low BP reading. (Probably because while I was in the throes of being crushed I couldn't exactly lift the cuff, slip it on, adjust it, and hit the button to take a reading...) Chris born with Lyme and bartonella, probably picked up the babesia from a 2003 tick bite In the last couple of weeks my wife has reported having a " crushing pain " - " Like an iron hand on her chest and another on her back, suddenly squeezing really hard and taking her breath away - she had to lie down and ride it out for what seemed to be 5 to 10 minutes - and then it was like it never happened " . Guest guest
I would get it checked out by a doctor to make sure it's not heart related, just in case. Guest guest
Get her to an ER or cardiologist ASAP. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like a heart attack to me. Guest guest
Espohogeal spasms cause a feeling like that, it can be be very painful and scary. There was a brief article in a past issue of Lyme Times about Lyme effecting the Vagus nerve. You can search the archives on the CALDA site. It mentions some other symptoms that can be caused by Vagus nerve involvement.
