Guest guest
I am sorry you are going though this - I have heard but do not know for sure - years ago when my then 10 year old almost got a root canal I was told and I do not remember who from but was told NOT to get a root canal because lyme resides in the roots and once you have a root canal it will go crazy - I was told to get the tooth extracted instead - she still has the tooth and does cause pain but the filling they put in has been holding up - I have heard that lyme bacteria loves to reside in the teeth - and in the roots........wish I could give you more info and I am not a doctor but this is what I was told years ago and since then life has been a whirlwind with my three girls and I all having lyme........was just in the er from 2-6am with my now 12 year old with what we think was a terrible gallbladder attack.......not so sure but have to get it all checked out - terrible pain between the shoulder blades and when the pain subsided after a few hours she threw up a bunch on bile dark yellow - so hate this disease and what it all does to all of us........none of us should have to suffer and wonder about everything we do - if its right or wrong.....doctors everywhere should know how to treat us correctly and know what to do with us.......er docs think we are crazy..........just hate this way of living!!!! Bless you all - Diane ________________________________ From: donna V <dvtmone@...> Sent: Sat, March 5, 2011 3:43:12 PM Subject: [ ] Tooth issues  Before I went to the DR for pain in joints, I went to the dentist for pain in one of my teeth. As he proceeded to drill the existing filling the back of my tooth cracked off, he then informed me I needed a root canal. This has been seen December of last year. The following week I was diagnosed with lymes and in severe pain , the tooth has still not been sealed and I am having severe tooth pain in that tooth. If I think about it the joint pain really started after the tooth was worked on. Even being on dyciclymine for 12 days now I still have no relief in the tooth. Finally the MD gave me Relifin and it stops the joint pain. I will be going back to the dentist and addressing this tooth problem next week. I pray I don;t loose my tooth.
Guest guest
I too have had unusual problems with my teeth, which all started suddenly after a really long stretch of not even a filling (10+ years). First I went in for a couple of small fillings. Working on the tooth, even for a small filling, seemed to trigger something. I ended up having to have a root canal on the tooth and after it was all over my jaw locked up. After a couple of months, I found a doctor who was able to unlock my jaw. The second tooth that I had the filling in kept causing pain, and another tooth broke off. So I went in and had a crown on the tooth that broke off. Then the doctor determined that the second tooth that had been filled would have to be pulled because it appeared as though the doctor cracked it when he filled it, which was causing the pain. They pulled that tooth. Then, I woke up one morning with a pain in my jaw. I called the dentist immediately. He got me in at 2 p.m. By 2 my jaw was swelling. He arranged for me to see an endodontist the next afternoon. By 10 p.m. I thought I might die during the night. My face was swelling rapidly and I was in a great deal of pain. The antibiotics they gave me didn't seem to help at all. I went to the hospital emergency room and they did IV antibiotics. When I walked into the endodontists office they immediately said I was in a great deal of trouble and needed to see a surgeon, which they sent me to immediately. The surgeon said I was just short of ending up in ICU with a systemic infection. He could just find my jaw bone. It has taken me months for the lump in my face to dissipate. The tooth that they put the cap on did not have a root canal but apparently just disturbing the tooth enough to put the cap on caused the root to die. They said that the root harbored the infection until it suddenly burst and spread infection through my jaw. A rare event. Needless to say I am terrified to have any work done on my teeth. Guest guest
I am so sorry that you have been through so much! The stress from the car accident and the surgeries probably triggered the Lyme disease assuming that you had a previous exposure. Life is so often just plain not fair! Especially when Lyme is involved. On Mon, Mar 7, 2011 at 8:20 PM, donna V <dvtmone@...> wrote: > > > I just wanted to thank the group for all the feedback on the root canal > issue I > am having.
