Guest guest
Ruby, You can order Saccharomyces on line, the brand I use is through Klaire Labs, I know there's a amazon link as well as others. I take two at noc before I go to bed. As for the probiotics, I always change mine every couple bottles. I like the refrigerated brands the best because I believe that is really the only way you can keep the " good bacteria " alive. You can find these type of probiotics at Good Harvest, Health Hut or any type of specialty health food store close to you. Floragen is a brand I have used. I use a brand that has a sun on it (Renew Life?) and I can't remeber what it is called. I also change the amount of bacteria per capsule, it usually depends on my pocketbook My whole family takes between two to three per day, that adds up pretty quickly with the four of us.. I also drink Kefir, you can get this in most local grocery stores by the yogurt and it has 10 stains of bacteria, which is better then most probiotics and tastes like a yogurt drink. Make sure you take your probiotics 3-4 hours away from the time you take your antibiotics, otherwise you are just killing off what you put in, KrisTIN
Guest guest
I'd be careful about ordering it online; it needs to stay cold. I buy it out of the refrigerator case at Whole Foods (a lot of other health food stores have it as well), and take it straight home. Don't want the good little buggies dying before I can get them back to my fridge. Guest guest
My daughter has been taking Culturelle, Saccharomyces Boulardii, and Russian Choice GI for the year she has been in treatment. She has had no issues with diarrhea the whole time that she has been on aggressive antibiotic therapy. I'm a bargain shopper and have found the best prices for these probiotics here: http://www.vitacost.com/ Culturelle $!4.24 for 30 capsules Sacc Boul: Allergy Research Group, $18.69 for 50 capsules Russian Choice GI: Allergy Resaerch Group, $26.91 for 100 capsules Prices fluctuate, but Vitacost has been consistent in offering the lowest prices I have found. They pack the Saccaromyces B. with an ice pack to keep it cool during transport.
Guest guest
How much of the Sacc Boul: Allergy Research Group do you give your daughter? I have a 9 year old daughter, but I don't know how much of this to give her a day. > > My daughter has been taking Culturelle, Saccharomyces Boulardii, and Russian > Choice GI for the year she has been in treatment. Guest guest
Cassi, Re: the Saccharomyces Boulardii, I give my daughter one of them twice a day. I looked at the bottle (Allergy Resaerch Group brand) and it says the serving size is threes capsules, providing 9 billion. This is the brand her LLMD reccomends and told her to take one, twice a day. My daughter is 18 years old though, so check first to see if that is an appropriate dose for your 9-year old's age and size. Don't give it to your daughter within and hour or two of her antibiotics, either before or after, or the ABX will kill the probiotic. Guest guest
My understanding is that the difference between Saccaromyces Boulardii and other probiotics is that you do not have to worry about it being taken near the antibiotics. I only use it when I cannot take my [now herbal] antibiotics two hours before or two hours after I take probiotics. These are instructions from my LLMD. It is not a true probiotic, but a yeast. When I was getting bicillin shots three days per week, it was helpful because a regular probiotic would die off in the first 24 hours after I received the shot, but it would survive during that 24 hours to nourish my digestive system. Because it is more expensive than regular probiotics like acidophilus, I only take it when I need to do so. Kathleen Don't give it to your daughter within and hour or two of her antibiotics, either before or after, or the ABX will kill the probiotic. Guest guest
Cassi, My 8-year son, who is about 60 lbs, takes two Saccharomyces Boulardii every day. He takes one after lunch, which is about four hours after his morning dose of ABX. And he takes his second one right before he goes to bed, which is at least two hours after dinner. This is how his LLMD prescribed how to take it. He is also on Ultra Flora twice a day, and Serra Peptase and Theralac once a day. If you have any questions about treating a child with Lyme and/or being the mother of a young kid with Lyme, please feel free to contact me directly. I know sometimes its not easy on either one of us, but especially him. ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Cassi Sent: Monday, March 21, 2011 3:56 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Probiotics/Saccharomyces Boulardii How much of the Sacc Boul: Allergy Research Group do you give your daughter?
