Guest guest
Hi, Marcie. Have you tried any of these (from memory with our son): bagels cheese (do you do dairy?) yogurt ( " " " " " ) fruits - bananas, sliced up grapes, steamed (or diced) apples/pears, peaches whole wheat breadsticks (they love the stick part of it!) cheerios real spaghetti (not the spaghetios) - or the curly/elbow kind black beans with rice (I know you said he doesn't like beans, but have you mixed it with rice?) Pancakes/waffles (you can get adventurous if you make your own and sneak some good stuff in there) Muffins (same as above) Pizza (not extremely nutritious, but not terrible either) Have you tried the sandwiches with the bread slightly toasted? Made a big difference for our son that way. Nutrigrain bars Does he like to dip? You can put sliced zucchini, cucumbers, carrots out with a dip. French fries (there is a frozen organic kind that has very little or no oil in it - Cascadian Farms?) That's all I can think of now. Good luck! And remember they are all finicky, at least at one point or another! Cathi
Guest guest
Marcie - something else I forgot. Make sure he isn't filling up too much on juices, then isn't hungry for food. Cathi
Guest guest
My son doesn't like juices either. (at this point) He will drink water on occassion, but only if it's in a " big " glass. I've tried switching him to rice milk but so far he only wants his soy formula. Marcie
Guest guest
ANYTHING YOU EAT! My little boy just turned one on the 24th, and he will eat anything you stuff in his mouth. We haven't had problems with allergies to food except dairy, so he really gets to enjoy his dinner! Just try feeding him what you make yourself for dinner, just cut it into smaller bits! Good luck. Guest guest
Have you heard of the book superbaby foods? I just did a few months ago and checked out the web page for them too, mine is only 6mo now and still nursing and eating cereal once in a awhile but when he is old enough I will get the book and try the recipes myself. www.superbabyfood.com Dawn Re: food > From: Cvroth@... > > Hi, Marcie. > > Have you tried any of these (from memory with our son): > > bagels > cheese (do you do dairy?) > yogurt ( " " " " " ) > fruits - bananas, sliced up grapes, steamed (or diced) apples/pears, peaches > whole wheat breadsticks (they love the stick part of it!) > cheerios > real spaghetti (not the spaghetios) - or the curly/elbow kind > black beans with rice (I know you said he doesn't like beans, but have you > mixed it with rice?) > Pancakes/waffles (you can get adventurous if you make your own and sneak some > good stuff in there) > Muffins (same as above) > Pizza (not extremely nutritious, but not terrible either) > Have you tried the sandwiches with the bread slightly toasted? Guest guest
Hi Marcie, What ever you do....just stay away from hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. They are bad news for everyone, but I am sure even more so for young growing children! Good luck

Guest guest
How about goat milk? That is what my daughter has been supplemented with since 2 weeks of age. It is most like breastmilk (easy to digest). Meyenberg is the company that distributes goat milk. It is very naturally sweet and has many nutrients. The only one I have heard it does not have a lot of is iron. We think my daughter is allergic to milk (she gets congested when having yogurt and refuses cheese and regular milk...plus family history of milk allergies). Goat milk is much easier to digest versus regular milk or soy milk. It can still cause congestion if you are sick (it contributes, just like milk, to creating more mucus). It is more filling than rice milk. It is sold in evaporated cans, powder and just like regular milk in health store dairy sections. There is also goat yogurt. If you go to http://www.meyenberg.com/ that is meyenberg's home page...it lists every state and where it is sold. They also sell " travel packets " it makes less than a container...it makes about 16 or 32 oz (can't remember) powder mix with warm water (make like formula). Maybe this will help. in CT Dlfnluvr@... wrote: > > From: Dlfnluvr@... > > My son doesn't like juices either. (at this point) He will drink water on > occassion, but only if it's in a " big " glass. Guest guest
Hi, Goats milk is still a problem for many people with allergies. I tried it for my son and he was not good on it. I have since read that many children who are allergic, do not tolerate it. If a child does tolerate it then it is a healthier substitute for cows milk. I once read that drinking goats milk could help children build up a immunity to poison ivy. (goats are immune) I am not sure how accurate that is....I could never find the information again! Thank god for us, my son loves his rice milk. Marcie, If your son is good with the soy formula, maybe you could try switching him to soy drink? I know you were concerned about him becoming intolerant to the soy. Once he is on the soy drink you could start adding goats milk, as mentioned, or rice milk gradually. My son hates to drink water. We have to put him on a rotation diet and he will only be allowed water. I have been adding more and more water to his milk. this should be interesting, when it becomes straight water! Good luck,

To make that a more nutricious meal - add peanut or almond butter (peanut allergy here). You could spread with cheese, guacamole or a number of any yummy things! My kids got rice cakes early - they made for great " teethers " and the children loved them. Another wonderful teether I utilized a lot was frozen whole bagels! Kept them busy for hours!! Guest guest
This last week I have been craving fruits. I bought fresh cherries two times this week. Then today when I went to my step-mom's house, I bought her some and we sat and eat alot of them. I have also had two bananas and alot of melon. This is I think that is giving me alot of gas. I mean alot of it. My step-mother also has been eating alot of fruit and vegies. She always had them from her garden but she hasn't had one for about 5 years so we bring her stuff the the farmers market. She also said she was having the same problem. We made a good pair today. Guest guest
Nicki had reflux as a baby - but she hasn't refluxed for a year or so. I wonder if the back of her tongue pushes the food up instead of down...it's a mystery. Carolyn
Guest guest
Carolyn, So strange... the same thing is happening right now to both (6yrs) and Dayton (17 months) both DS. They both have had reflux and aspirating in the past. The baby has a feeding tube due to the fact he can't have liquids. We go Wed, to have another barrium swallow to find out what is goin on. They both have had surgery for reflux. The dr said it was possible that the surgery that they did it is not 100% correctable. I guess we always seem to fall inthe 1% catagory for rare things.. lol. Just keep your eyes on them and if it does not get better I would consult with the MD. Medrano Food Hi All - This is really going to gross you out if you don't have this problem, but I am curious to see if anyone does have this in common with the girls. Nicki especially is prone to this.....after giving her spagetti for dinner, about and hour later, I noticed something slightly protuding from her nose. I thought it was the usual nose stuff but when I got a tissue and wiped her nose, I pulled out about 5 inches of spagetti. Now, this is not for the faint hearted and I thought I was going to be sick!! It has happened again and again and I have had to warn babysitters if the babies have had spagetti for fear that the shock will be too much! Don't give them spagetti, you say? Unfortunately it's their staple diet but I'm pleased to say Nicki is getting tired of eating it! Does anyone else have this joyous experience or am I the only lucky one? I have not eaten the greens raw except spinach in salades. I cook them lightly and put lemmon or vinegar on them with baccon. Guest guest
Hi Lee, Along with everything else, I am sensitive to " Nightshade " , which includes tomatoes, potatoes, peppers of all kinds, egg plant, and tobacco. I have to avoid all of these, or I suffer pain and swelling and other symptoms. I ate a sandwich, which had a sauce with french dressing that looked like it had red peppers in it. So it had tomatoes and peppers. I also had a compulsive eating binge. I woke with pain in left arm (fibromyalgia or heart problems???) and terrible indigestion. I took alka seltzer and digest tea. It was three hours before I could go back to sleep. I still do not feel great; but better. I tested myself for the sensitivity to Nightshade, by eliminating them from my diet. Sensitivities are caused by candida. Gloria Re: food Wow Gloria! I feel terrible today. Have examined my diet and don't know what I am doing wrong. Guest guest
ok one thing that needs to be arranged is the folks that are all riding together need to check with the driver to make sure your bowls of salads and stacks of soaping goodies will fit in the cars and such too before there are too many plans made on what food is being brought.... also keep in mind your distance for taveling... volunteering to bring foam plate on a 2 hour drive might work out better then a cooler for a jello salad on top of all the soap stuff you want to bring... see what I mean? Not trying to tell folks what to do.... just reminding of the distance some will be traveling and keeping in mind the temperment of some foods that might have to be kept cool and your hostess drivers room in her car Terri Food I absolutely love to cook. So I can bring anything that anyone wants me to bring. Dessert, fruit salad, you name it, let me know. I can also help with getting all of the food ready -- can be there a little early if you guys want. nneOur members maphttp://.homestead.com/locations.htmlOur Message Boardhttp://www.voy.com/21568/Special Invite for membershttp://soapwerks.com/martinrectangle.htmAll posts to this list are copyrighted by post author.
