Guest guest
Thanks. It was breezy and mostly cloudy. I had a sweathshirt on, but still was kindof cold. Other then that it was a good day to go. Not to hot, and not to cold- even though it could have been a little warmer. I had to wait in lines maybe 15-30 min which isn't that bad- then other lines I just got right on the ride. I had lunch/ dinner at 2:30 across the street and had a good lunch. ===== " It means people on crutches and in a wheelchair can do anything. Guest guest
> I am writing mid day because often I falter after lunch. Some people prefer to write what they *plan* on eating, others write what they *did* eat. More importantly, you should be keeping your own personal food log, jotting down everything you ate, *why* you ate it, how you felt both before and after you ate it. Do this for a week or 2 to see what your daily eating routine actually is. When you make your food plans, it's best to make them up for the entire week ahead. Be sure to include not only your three big meals but whatever snacks you'll need. You'll find out how many and when from the food log you're going to keep. Be sure to then *shop* for all those meals, so you have no excuse to eat something else, like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich when your plan says a small apple, because you forgot to buy the fruit. Guest guest
Let me preface this with the fact that food is just a fuel now to me. It's an enjoyable fuel for certain, but I have sort of blown apart typical ideas for traditional meals in some cases. Today for breakfast as a male of certain height and weight (5-9, currently 190) I am going to cook 6 oz of ground beef and add some egg white (its ok to have the yolks, but I avoid them because of their Arachidonic acid content) so essentially steak and eggs along with maybe 5 or 10 blueberries, before breakfast I drink a cup or two of mineral water when I first wake up and am stretching before I ride my bike. While I cook my greens I usually nibble on all the greens I'd like and I grab a baby carrot or two just before I ride my bike. I eat the steak and eggs not long after I return from the bike ride (30 - 45 minute ride). For lunch I'm at work and we have no way to cook (except microwave which I no longer use) and I eat some more beef (8 or 12 oz) or fish that I had cooked in the morning along with a lot of greens that I often make into a soup in my blender because its easier to drink the greens (just like Popeye except instead of squeezing them out of a can, I squeeze them out of a one quart Rubbermaid container!) I will probably bring a plum or two to work as well. I also bring the mineral water bottle I started in the morning and drink that during the day. Understand this food I bring to work is nibbled on all day though I might eat a bit more at the traditional lunch time. It's good to spread your meals so that you don't eat a large amount at a short sitting. I also will drink a cup of Sip Right 4 You Type, Type O tea at about 2 pm. If I go out to eat with co-workers I always try to get fish with vegetables or at least a grilled chicken salad (almost any restaurant has one of these two). Oh and I usually have 10 - 15 Walnuts I eat at work with my food. When I get home I do some good exercise like a little weight lifting or at least walk for 30 minutes. For dinner tonight it will be some 12 or more oz of Tilapia (fish) and possibly some black beans as well as good amounts of vegetables, probably a salad with peppers, spinach, carrots, romaine lettuce. I usually end up working in some kale or collard greens as well. I also will probably have some fresh black cherries (maybe a dozen) for dessert. I do my best to finish all my eating by about 6 or 7 pm which makes my sleep much better and more natural (since there is little glucose from digestion pumping around in my blood to keep my mind alert and my body isn't doing the heavy work of digestion.) OK typing all that made me hungry so I'm going to drink my water and get to my bike ride :-) I know it's a radical change with the snacks and sweets and all, but Suzy it is so worth it, like nothing you have experienced before. Getting away form your habits right now will not be easy, but you may not see significant improvement until you do because literally you are what you eat (you eat the raw materials that actually create your body). Feed it the kinds of things that you could grow or hunt if there were no grocery stores or bright colored wrappings on convenience foods. Remember all the packaging is there to distract you from what you are really buying which is lots of carbs, fat or sugar. Remember to shop the perimeter of your store , not the middle. It's in the middle where almost all the pre-packaged foods live. You are in my prayers and the prayers of many on this board I believe. Tom Type O, Non-Secretor Arlington, TX food Can someone tell what they eat all day, like breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also snacks? I guess that means I have to give up the ice cream too. I do eat a lot of junk food, like chips, candy, cake but I do eat fruit. I also drink a lot of diet pepsi no wonder I don't feel well. Guest guest
This will be a big change for you Suzie. A lot of times I eat just meat for breakfast. I eat until I am full. This gives me a great start for the day. Then I eat HB fruit in between meals, and I try to make sure there is about 2 hours between. A big salad with chicken on top is one of my favorite lunches. I make mine with lots of Romaine lettuce. Sometimes I put sunflower seeds or sliced almonds on it too. Yummmm. For supper I eat my lightest meal. Mostly fish, chicken or Turkey, sometimes beef and veggies, cooked and raw. There are some good desserts in the Cook Right For Your Type Book if you are a junk food junkie. It is best to try to be 100% compliant for at least 3 weeks. That way you clean out your system and can really " feel " the difference the Eat Right way makes. I felt almost sick while I cleaned out and then about 2 1/2 weeks into it, I all of a sudden had excessive energy and a sense of well-being that is wonderful!! I can only suggest that you not get discouraged. Do you have the food list? All the foods that are good for you? If you have that, you can easilly make meals that are tasty and good. You do know you can have rice and sweet potatoes? A good stirfry with rice is good. Their is also a sweet potato chip you can buy at the HFS. Good luck and don't give up. If you fail one day, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. " C. Guest guest
Just remember that manufacturers can always change ingredients so its best to set out to be nutritionally savvy. A lot of fresh meat and produce is not of brand name but sold in the produce/butcher section of the store. Just something to think about :-) Re: food Does the pocket guide have brand names of products that are acceptable? susan forrester <sfor58@...> wrote:This will be a big change for you Suzie. Guest guest
Well, eating out will be an all commercial feast, so not to worry about brand names. Being an O, you can ALWAYS order some meat/chicken/fish/turkey. Also green veggies or salads, and you can have some rice. This is if you want to be compliant at all times. Did you mean brand names to look for in stores, instead of restaurants? If yes, type in all the foods you are interested, & I'll tell you the brand name. (health food stores). Guest guest
Wow Tom! I am quite amazed at how well balanced your meals and exercise routines seem to be; I am envious. I have been only moderately successful in adopting such healthful habits and improving my diet (most difficult to avoid the naughty/nice treats). I have certainly come a long way since I started this change 2 years ago but still have a lot of room for improvement. Meanwhile my body suffers the consequences!...strange how we continue to do the things that clearly cause us harm. Yep. Well, I am encouraged here and will continue to try and mend my wicked ways! I know what I need to do! Texas huh? I lived there so long ago...in your neck of the woods. I don't miss the fire ants but I do miss the cicadas.
