Guest guest
Hi All, I haven't been on line in a while. Just wanted to say hey and hope that everyone is doing good. Alecia has been doing good thank god no major flares or anything. She seems to do better when the warmer wheather comes. She learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels today. I was very happy to see her doing that, she has been wanting to learn for the longest. I have been afraid for her to try it because she has lost almost all of the motion in her wrists,so i figured how would she break her fall if she fell. All went well though i have to let go some time right. The doc said to take 2 teaspoons of the folic acid for the sores on her head due to the methotrexate along with a lower dose, it seems to be doing the trick. Thank my higher power for that one i was afriad that we would have to go on something different and experiment again with meds.ugh not fun..... Well like i said earlier hope everyone and all the children are doing well your all in my prayers. The warmer wheather is coming here in NJ. looking forward to lots of fun in the sun.... Bye and Alecia
Guest guest
Hi , Great to hear from you! And so happy about Alecia's bike riding. I bet that made her day and brought you both a lot of smiles! Sometimes Josh isn't well enough joint wise to ride his bike these days. He does have a full set of riding gear, though, with wrist pads, helmet, the works. I'm really happy when he does decide to get more active and do the fun kids stuff. Good to know that the folic acid seems to be helping with the head sores. That's great. Hopefully it won't happen again. And hooray!!!! about the Spring weather! It's been nice and warm and sunny here, as usual, but it has been very windy this weekend. So, no beach :-( At times like this, the sand can really hurt, as it swirls around the sun seekers. You really have to stay in the water the entire time. So, we're thinking maybe next week instead :-) Take Care, Georgina

Guest guest
Welcome , I had a horse one time that died of liver disease, it was too far to do anything when we found out what it was. He had everyone scrambling trying to figure it out. Hope your dog is feeling okay. Did they have to do a biopsy? What kind of dog is it and what are his meds? I know a lot of the times they prescribe the same for dogs as people. Guest guest
I loved to hear that you have a love for your dog that it is like a child to you. I hope you learn things from us and hope your dog gets well soon. Myself I have a dog named Halo Anne .. I got her the week before Easter and I have gotten so attached to her. She was an orphan, someone let her off on the side of the road. When I got her she was a sad site. She needed all her shots and she had to be spaded and a good hair cut. She was about 10 pounds and really was in made shape. When she was done with all the doctor appointments she because the best thing in my life since I got AIH. My daugther has a part black lab and who knows dog. Her name is Libby Jane, Liberty Jane when she is bad, which is alot. Guest guest
We were extremely lucky to discover my dog's problem very early on - he was and always has been asymptomatic. One day he seemed a little " off " and because I'm a vet tech I took him to work with me and did a blood panel which revealed really really elevated liver enzymes...we assumed that he had gotten into something and treated it as toxicity, monitoring his blood closely, but when almost a month went by with no change in his numbers we went ahead and biopsied and found out that he has chronic disease But, as I said we caught it early so he's in great shape. He is on the same drugs as a human: pred, imuran and actigall and vitamin E. I feel bad that he can't tell me how all those drugs make him feel, because from what I read on this list they make you feel really nasty. He did gain a lot of weight from the pred, and he had to pee at least every four hours but now that his dose is down he's more back to normal. He gets monthly blood tests and we are really happy with how he's doing, he's responding well to the meds, but still his internist (who is also one of my best friends - again, lucky us) wants another biopsy six months into treatment (August) for a definitive look at the level of fibrosis. Hopefully low. As I'm sure all of you know, the pred can cause the liver enzymes to be falsely high or low (I forget exactly how that works but I can look it up if anyone's really interested) so even though the blood tests look great he wants to be really certain of the situation, which I agree with. I hate to put him through another biopsy, but at least I get to be with him the whole time. He's a greyhound/bull terrier mix. If anyone's interested in seeing him, I'd be happy to post a picture! (He's VERY handsome). Thanks for the welcome! & Wyatt ---------- >From: Lynn <CEN32195@...> > onelist >Subject: Re: [ ] Hi >Date: Sun, Jul 25, 1999, 12:47 AM > >From: Lynn <CEN32195@...> > >Welcome , I had a horse one time that died of liver disease, it was too >far to do anything when we found out what it was. Guest guest
I was born with it 57 years ago! And am just now getting it under control! It has really been a struggle, I' became aware of the meaning of Candida when i was 40 yrs old & was so glad there was a name to what i had & that someone else knew about it! In May of 1998 i finally found someone who knew how to get rid of it & have been following his advice & getting rid of it! It is very smart! It knows your routine of meds you are taking & can form a resistance to it. I saw 10 different Drs. in & out of Hosp, saw every known specialist, so i am extremely pleased with my routine now, i am feeling great! i do not follow the diet strict, i can't! i have tried for 17 yrs, but i do my best, exercise is very important also. If i can be of any help please ask, i'll do what i can. Good Luck! Mogdrmom@...
Guest guest
Hi Christie, My mom thinks I was born with the Candida. If not, I suspect it came from the antibiotics I took when I was 2 for Scarlet Fever. I've felt tired all my life that I can remember. Hi > From: christie29@... (c s) > > Hi, im Christie.. Guest guest
Hello to " MogdrMom! " Found your post very interesting, and would love to hear lots more details about exactly what you are doing to get rid of the candida. I just can't seem to shake this stuff, and the diet is too restrictive to live with forever. For a short time, yes, maybe, but not long term. The restriction does not agree with my body. Would sure love to hear your experience with it all!! Take good care-- Lucy
Guest guest
, i also had Scarlet Fever as a child, maybe there is a connection, i've had candida when i was born or maybe after i had the scarlet fever? Don't know, i'll have to do some checking, Thanks! mogdrmom

Guest guest
Dear , Your doctors have won for saying the stupidest things I've ever heard! First off, your symtoms seem to me to be classic AIH. Second of all, who is that doctor to ORDER you to take tranquilizers when he doesn't even know what Autoimmune Hepatitis is?! I don't see how he could have you committed when it can be proven that you know what you're talking about. You are SO not crazy, and I am so sorry you had to endure that. I know a normal doctor's appointment can be upsetting to me. Something like what you had to endure (even a fraction) would put me over the edge I think! Please just know they're both severely ignorant and unprofessional. Take care, and find an outlet to vent all that out! >From: La7de@... >Reply- onelist > onelist >Subject: Re: [ ] Hi >Date: Fri, 3 Sep 1999 07:26:18 EDT > >From: La7de@... > >Hi all, > >Boy do I need a dose of your sanity and support today! Guest guest
Hi all, Boy do I need a dose of your sanity and support today! I had the most horrible doctors visits yesterday, I'm still in shock. My first visit was for a second opinion, mainly because my first GI didn't seem concerned and getting answers/information from him was like pulling teeth. So this time I tried a woman GI. She was very thourough in her exam and with asking me questions. I had also brought her a list of my symptoms, like fatigue, muscle/joint pain/constant low grade fever/depression/nausea/ dry & sore eyes/ URQ pain etc.... She said they were not symptoms of AIH, and that my numbers AST-147,ALKP-358, ANA-1:80 were not suggestive of AIH. Even with the Mayo clinic biopsy, which said " Chronic active hepatitis (grade 2 of 4), with periportal fibrosis (stage 2 of 4) " Also, portal/periportal inflammation with piecemeal necrosis. She ordered a few more blood tests, but figured they wouldn't convince her any differently. Bottom line, she said all I needed was to " get off my butt and start exercising and quit smoking " . She didn't seem to care that I didn't have the energy to do that after putting all the energy I do have into working all day. I left there stunned. Then, because she had been running 45 min late, I had to rush to my new psychiatrists appointment and got there late, but they said it was ok. The psych's nurse took down some facts, then I finally got to see the doctor. OH MY GOD, I have never run into a man like this before holding a professional degree. The reason I went to him was because my first GI wanted to make sure my depression was stable before they put me on prednisone, since it can also cause depression. So like a fool, I showed him my list of symptoms from AIH. He was furious that I had been in counseling for 18 months (I had been ok before this run around with trying to get my diagnosis and I simply couldn't afford it). He said that just because I had a " bad life " didn't mean that there was anything he could do for me. I tried to tell him about the AIH diagnosis from Mayo, and he said is it Hep A, B or C? I said neither, it was autoimmune hep, and he hollered that there were only three choices A, B or C! I guess I made the mistake of trying to explain that autoimmune hep is none of those, because he got real mad and said he was " this close to Baker acting me " !!!!!!!! But that if I did what he said he would give me a chance!!!! So I had to make an appt with his psychologist for later today. Can you believe it??? He also gave me a RX for tranquilizers that I MUST take! He scared the H*** out of me, I could just picture the cops coming and dragging me off to the mental institution! I'm not crazy, really I'm not! Yes, I was still reeling from the GI's visit, and down over that but come on! I don't know what to do next!?!! I don't know what he can do to me, can I fire him without being Baker acted? (Baker acted is being committed against my will). I went for the new lab tests, so I'll see what they say, and I'm too scared not to see his psychologist today, but now I'm not only lost, I'm terrified! Anyone have any ideas???
