Welcome to our group. Good for you on cutting out sugar and caffeine! That's a start. ==>It is best to do the " required reading " emailed to you when you joined, which are not only our Group's Rules, but also my main article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " at: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php ==>That way we are all on the same page, and myself and my moderators do not have to spend so much time answering questions in that article. ==>Also there are many handy lists of foods and supplements: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu2.php ==>I suggest you also read this article on Curing Candida, How to Get Started: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro1.php > > Does anyone have a guess as to how long it might take to feel better? I am thinking it might take a while as my symptoms are vast and they have been happening for some time. ==>Most people nowadays have had candida since they were conceived in the womb. But if you read my article (noted above) you will learn about Hering's Law of Cures which states how long it takes to get well. > I also lived in a home for 2 years that we found out was saturated with toxic mold and we had to burn it to the ground. Yikes! ==>Wow, that's horrible. Did you know that people with strong immune systems wouldn't be " as affected " by mold however? > > I have 4 kids and a dear husband. Is it likely that having lived in > the mold house they have issues with candida as well? What kind of > approach would be good with kids? I am already transitioning us all > over to " Nourishing Traditions " and Weston Price ways of eating. Will this be good enough for the kids? ==>If your kids have candida they will need to do more than just follow the Weston A. Price principles. My diet does follow a lot of their main principles but once you read about candida you'll understand why only WAP doesn't help. I've known a few women who have followed WAP yet they and their babies still had candida. > > Thanks for any thoughts ar advice you have! I am looking forward to > knowing all of you. ==>We are looking forward to knowing you and your family too. Take good care. Do read a lot my friend, and then get back to us for support and to answer questions. The best in health, Bee

Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Barbara I just joined the coconut oil open forum after ordering some vco last night from Tropical Traditions. My ex-daughter-in-law, who is the head nurse of the local home health agency told me last week that vco was good for treating heartburn/indigestion which I had just been to the Dr. for even though I have been taking Prevacid for several years. The Prevacid did a good job until recently and now I am on Prevacid and Zantac, but still suffering with the indigestion problem. I have just started reading the forum with message # 1, so you know how far I have to go!!! Does anybody have a testimony about vco helping with the heartburn/indigestion problem? My husband is VERY interested in knowing if there is a chance that it might help with joint pain. We both have arthritis and he has a big problem with both his big toes hurting like crazy. Just recently, my right big toe has become painful. Mine is painful on the bottom and his is on the top. Sorry for the length of this introductory message. I am glad to have found the group and look forward to the new things I will learn! If anyone has any links about vco and the symptoms I mentioned above, please send them to me or post them in the appropriate place on the board. Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from some of you. in GA My God I sit Beneath Thee My Little Child Upon My Knee My Little Child Looks Up To Me And I Look Up To Thee
Guest guest
Oh, , it's sure a good thing you asked about acid reflux. To my knowledge, VCO doesn't help with heartburn. I hadn't heard that. I also haven't heard if it does anything for arthritis. But I'm sure someone else on this board will know more and let you know. I know there's a book called " The Coconut Miracle, " I think. Check Amazon for it. But I DO know what will help " cure " your acid reflux.... Apple Cider Vinegar And you need to get the organic version of it. Bragg's makes the best, I've heard. I recently found some at Whole Foods market, and it takes a lot better than the cheaper, processed version I originally bought. But, right after Xmas, I was having a LOT of trouble with what the doctor THOUGHT was acid reflux disease. He prescribed Prilosec, of course. It didn't do ANYTHING for me--waste of my limited funds. But when I did a search on the web, I found a website that has all kinds of natural remedies, and it has postings from all kinds of people who have been helped by Apple Cider Vinegar. But, darn it, I can't remember the exact name of the site, and I couldn't find it in my " favorites " folder. Sorry. But a quick search on Google will pull it up. I think it has the word " earth " in the name, like " Earth Clinic, " or something. Basically, take about 8 ounces of water and add 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, then add 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda. It will fizz a bit. You want to stir it until the fizz stops. Then, drink up! The reason you add the baking soda, is to make the 5% acidic ACV a little less acidic, closer to about 7%, which is more alkaline, which is what you need to stop the excess acid production in your stomach. Drugs such as Prilosec and Prevacid--I've read from reliable sources- -will actually reduce TOO MUCH ACID, and that's not good for your stomach. Same thing with Zantac and others like it--Rolaids, Tums, etc. I hate the taste of ACV, so I add a packet of powdered Stevia, to sweeten it, some. It still doesn't taste so great, but it's better. Some people add it to other types of drinks (non-alcoholic, of course), to help cover the taste. When I tried it for the first time, my very painful heartburn went away soon after, almost like magic. And every time I've used it since, it works. I no longer use Rolaids or anything. I just drink a glass of ACV and baking soda. And the indigestion starts to go away with the first gulp. I tend to gulp it down quick, because I don't like the taste. But you know the old belief about " medicine, " " if it tastes bad, it must be good for you. " Think Nyquil. Yuck! My grandmother gave me some of that stuff, once, when I was a kid, and it tasted A-W-F-U-L! Needless to say, I've never used it since. Check your grocer's healthfood department, or go to a health food store, such as Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, and look for Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. It's supposed to be the best. So give it a try. If it works for you, like it has for me, and a lot of other people, then I'm sure it will be a lot less expensive of a " treatment " for you. And it will also have a lot less potential side effects--like none--except for the not-so-great taste. I wish I knew a good recommendation for your husband's joint pain, but I don't. I DO know that my mother's arthritic shoulder was " cured " by a lot of vitamin C. She read it in a " natural remedy " book, years ago. So she started taking 1000, 2000, 3000, then 4000, PER DAY, under the pain in her shoulder started going away. Then she kept it there, until her health went down from her diabetes, and other problems going on. But her arthritis NEVER did come back. So you could do a search for that on the web, and see if you can find any information about that. Are you sure your BIG toes hurting is caused by arthritis? Do you have any trouble with your sciatic nerve? Years ago, I badly pinched my sciatic nerve, which runs down the spine to the big toe on the left leg, and my big toe would hurt. I finally went to the ER when the pain in my hip and leg were the worst. I couldn't sit, and I couldn't stand. Nothing helped. It just felt like my hip and leg were on fire. The ER doc was able to pinpoint the problem real quick. He asked if my big toe hurt, and I, surprised by the question, said " yes! " He said that even though the pinched nerve is in your back, the pain will manifest in your left leg, down to the big toe. So he told me to put an ice pack on my back for like a half hour at a time, and take a high dose he prescribed of Motrin. It worked wonderfully. I don't know if that could be your problem. I've never heard of arthritis in the big toe, but I'm not a doctor, and who knows what all arthritis can affect. Hope the ACV helps your indigestion, as it did mine. Let us know. Guest guest
I will second this motion. Organic Apple Cider Vinegar(OACV) is the worlds best kept secret. It not only works on acid reflux, It has cured my lifelong battle with chronic sinus infections. Then I added a bit of cayenne pepper to it, and my arthritis pain is gone as well as some serious hemorrhoid troubles !!! Between VCO, OACV, Kefir and Kombucha, Im feeling pretty chipper again. Guest guest
There is a recipe on the side of the bottle. Simply dilute 1-2 TBSP in 8 oz of water, add maple syrup or honey or stevia to taste. I have this cocktail every morning when i first get up. Of course now I add the cayenne pepper to the mixture. I also carry some to work with me to sip on throughout the day about 2 oz at a time. Be sure to always follow with an equal amount of plain water. Arthritis pain was gone in 3 days. Sinus was noticeably being affected immediately, took a month or so to completely clear it out. Took longer for the rhoids, but did notice improvement after one week. There are many many other benefits from the vinegar, do a search and read what others have to say about it. Im happy with the results I got. And yes this is part of my regular health regimen now The kefir you buy in the stores is not real kefir- I make my own with kefir grains. Essentially, its a fermentation of milk ( similar to yoghurt-but with many more probiotics) http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html Kombucha is yet another probiotic drink that dates back many hundreds of years in Eurasia. It is a fermented tea/sugar base that tastes very much like apple cider and will turn to vinegar if you leave it ferment too long. It also affords many many health benefits. Guest guest
I'm not Zoe Cryss, but I can tell you about kefir and kombucha. Kefir is the fermented milk that needs a starter of kefir grains to work on milk for 24 hours. The result is a sour, tangy drink and I make a smoothie out of it every morning for breakfast. I make my kefir from raw Jersey milk and add raw egg and stirr it hard then add 8 drops of stevia to make it a little sweeter. I like it that way. It is great for your digestion just like any other fermented foods. It adds a beneficial bacteria in your digestive system. Kombucha is a tea that is fermented with a " mushroom " that is not a mushroom but a bacteria cake. You leave it on the counter for 10 to 14 days and it also is tangy. You drink it like that. I'm sure a little stevia would improve the taste but I like it the way it is. ACV also is very beneficial and like you said world's best kept secret. It improves digestion and is good for many other things. Barbara Zoe, how much ACV did you (or still use?) use to " cure " your sinus infections and your arthritis pain? And hemorrhoids? That sounds like it has worked pretty well for you. It is the " world's best kept secret. " And can you tell me what kefir is and what it does? I don't remember what I read about it. But our store has 3 different yummy- sounding flavors I want to try. And what is Kombucha? Huggs to you, too! Cryss
Guest guest
How did you clear your sinus problem? That would be a dream come true. Didi > > I will second this motion. > Huggs > zoe >
Guest guest
I use a mixture of plain old black tea and some green tea(Jasmine) am planning on branching out to use some other types of teas, just not got around to it yet. Guest guest
oh, jeannie! how very frustrating! i am so sorry. i hope the discomfort is very temporary and will heal itself for you. carol hi hi all, Have just come back from my spinal surgeon, due to my car accident, I have some bulging through my C3-5, just above where my neck fusion was done in July. I am so depressed, my neck had been healing so well, I was getting my strength back in my arms and hands because he had removed the bone spurs and pinched nerves, and along comes some Ethiopian chick who didn't want to follow US driving rules, was new to the country and was supposed to have a licensed driver with her-she only had a permit, plus, she tried to do a hit and run. Now I don't know if there will be enough medical to pay for all this care that I need. I need 2 months of PT, have had a cervical MRI, he wants me to have a spinal MRI, plus that painful nerve conductivity test, plus maybe have an anaesthesialogist put cortisone in my neck. I have to talk to my lawyer as to who pays what when my medical runs out. i only had the minimum on my car, just thought I didn't need it I guess, or didn't understand why I needed more. i will be upping it when it comes for renewal, it wasn't explained well to me, and I have a 10 year old car. I'll be asking a lot more questions from now on. She did have a minimum amount of insurance at least, but my neck was almost 100% healed until she did this. Now I'm back to drs, tests, and more discomfort. I won't get hardly anything for my settlement, lawyer takes 33%. My car will be fixed in a week, at least I get to drive a new car for that time, and that's a pleasure over driving a 10 year old car. If this chick had only obeyed the laws of this country, this wouldn't have happened. I can't even lift things i had regained the strength to lift before. I'm so mad I could spit!! I take one step forward, then two steps back. I guess I have to get over it. Thanks for letting me rant and rave, I am just so stressed, and tired--- Jeannie __________________________________________________________ Food fight? Guest guest
-Ahhhhhh Jeannie I am so sorry to hear about all of this. I would think SHE should be paying for all of your medical bills. Did she have insurance? if so her insurance company should pick up ALL of your bills. Thats what we had to do when my daughter hit someone and she had some neck problems. I would think your insurance company would push hers to get the bills off of themselves, they usually LOVE to let someone else pay for things. And since it was not your fault you should not have to hassle with all of this. Why does your dr want to do a spinal MRI ?? does he think there are more problems lower ?? I am surprised they didn't want to do a CAT Scan with dye to see exactly what is going on in there. Thats what I had done.Maybe just maybe the bulging will go down, its possible and your neck may heal itself with time. But I know you must be so frustrated now because you were healing so well from your surgery before. Thats the bad thing about having a bad neck and back anything can mess it up so easily. Take care and I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi ! I'm not diabetic, so I can't address that but for me, using coconut oil has reduced my appetite and given me more energy. Have you read some of the coconut oil websites? there's a lot of good info on them. Here are a few: http://www.mercola.com/2001/mar/24/coconut_oil.htm http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/ http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/what_is_virgin_coconut_oil.htm http://www.coconutoil.com/ I got some coconut oil from Wilderness Family, but it was very expensive. I also ordered some from iherb.com which was lower priced and free shipping on orders over $60. There are other places to order from too. The price in the health food store in our area was way higher & they didn't have big jars. Good luck! Let us know how you make out. B God Bless America! One Nation Under God. Guest guest
Hi A friend of mine was diagnosed with type 2 diabeties, and the Nutritionist told him that he was lucky that this is the one disease that can be controlled by diet... The changes he made was adding a green salad with raw veggies, exercise and his wife cooks with VCO, within 3 months he lost 30 lbs, his sugar is pretty much under control... I keep telling him this is not a diet, it is a life style change... once he got that mind set, it started working for him... Also drinking pleanty of water with sea salt helps...
