Guest guest
- you're right, six weeks may not " cure " it. But I think this is the recommended course to start with to see if symptoms improve. I'll let the group know how it goes. Guest guest
Steve, Don't you dare give up. I also started treatment in October of 2009 I was beyond a mess. My initial worst symptoms were bilateral ear pressure, extreme digestive issues; with bloating and pain. cognitive issues, extreme joint pain, low grade fevers just to name a few. I did have a PICC line for 7 months inwhich I received antibioitcs for 4 of those months and then other things to boost my immune system. I am now 90% better, I think. Still doing antibioitcs orally. I have had terrible Candida and this was even prior to antibioitc treatment and still deal with it. If you have gut issues it's very likely you may have Bartonella. I had Bartonella, Babesia, Erilichiosis, and Lyme. I took 16 weeks of Rifampin then 50 days of Levoquin daily at higher doses and now just completeing Bactrim DS two daily for 2 months. I have not had any Bartonella symptoms since Early December. We worked at reducing the Lyme first and Erilichiosis, then evaluated other symptoms and moved on from there. It seems to me (and I am not a doctor, but a nurse and my whold family has been infected) that your dosages are not high enough and long enough. Potential coinfections that yuou may have treated with some Levoquin, hasn't even scratched the surface. I hope that your new LLMD will step it up. It does take a while and can be rather frustrating, but I am living proof that treatment can work. Make sure you are taking probioitcs at least 2-3 per day 3-4 hours away from you antibiotics. If you have serious food allergies/sensitivities, it may be worth considering a PICC line to give your gut a rest. Thinking about you and please continue to post your questions or concerns and feel free to privately email me off the board as well. Best of luck with your new LLMD. Guest guest
Thank you ! you are an encouragement! I come here to be encouraged. Yes, I too have seen improvement with all my treatments but I get discouraged too because I don't know when I can get a job, if I will be able to garden and do my volunteer work. I got a resistant/persistant form of Lyme in July 2010, went directly to my brain, tick bite on the head, one reason I didn't see the rash. I don't know if I am 70% recovered but I am better. > > Steve, > > Don't you dare give up. I also started treatment in October of 2009 I was > beyond a mess.
