Hi ,

The author of Cure Unknown is Pamela Weintraub. I agree it's an excellent book,

a must read for anyone dealing with tick-borne diseases.

I went to the same Lyme practice where she and her family have been treated.

There used to be a signed copy of her book in the office dedicated to the Lyme

patients.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

[ ] Re: Books

Connie,

The absolute two best books I've read on Lyme are " Cure Unknown " by

Weintraub, which synthesizes much of Lyme research, and explains how we got

here today, and also covers treatments. The other is " The Lyme Disease

Solution " by Dr. Ken Singleton, which is extremely detailed about treatments

(and tick prevention!).

As for the book you mentioned, I've skimmed it because I go to one of the

doctors featured in the book. As I recall, it is very expensive ($26) and

it was hard to sort through everything if you are reading it for treatments

-- they are varying, and drove me a bit crazy. They also feature a

homeopathic doctor that I've had an appt. with for my son, and he does not

believe in antibiotic treatment for Lyme at all, only homeopathic remedies.

I'm afraid I completely disagree, so to include him on the same basis as a

lot of the other doctors made it hard for me to distinguish which

practitioner was " legitimate " (can't come up with a better word) and which

was really fringe.

If you are looking for treatment options I also found the ILADS treatment

guidelines were very helpful in sorting out what was recommended (by doctors

I trust).
