Guest guest
Hi , I was on IV Rocephin for 4 months last spring and summer. I was on a very low fat diet (no more than 30 grams/day) to protect my gall bladder. It might be a good idea to discuss with your MD how he/she plans to help you prevent gall bladder problems which can occur on IV Rocephin. I was surprised how quickly I got used to the routine of self-administration (I live alone). The only thing that was hard to get used to was protecting the site from getting wet. That is extremely important to prevent infection. I use to wrap my upper arm in plastic wrap & tape the ends. I still didn't feel safe taking a shower. So I took shallow baths with my PICC line arm hanging off the side of the tub. I started out on Ceftin (oral form of Rocephin) and had been on other oral ABXs for 6 months before the IV--though I was told from the beginning I'd need IV treatment. So I did not experience a herx on Rocephin. I was told I symptoms might get worse and/or change at first. The visiting nurse who changes your dressing will check how you're feeling, take your vital signs. I definitely got some benefit from the treatment. I have much better cognitive function and stamina. I'm now using the Buhner herbal protocol to continue the healing process. Each of our journeys is unique. I wish you much success in your treatment. Kim Re: [ ] IV antibiotics Hi , My mom has Lymes and is blind from it. A resident at MGH dx her. She had ? flu for years off and on and it wasn't until she lost her vision did they find out she had 3rd stage lyme. It was in her brain and effected her optic nerve. She had a PICC line for months. Home health came and changed her dressing and I gave her the abx . I am a nurse so it was easy for me. But my sisters who are not in health care admin her IV daily also. You must be careful to keep it clean and make sure everyone who comes in contact with you is using good hand hygiene. We also had my mom on probiotics because of the long term ABX risk of yeast and C difficile.. If there is anything else I can help you with let me know. I hope this helps. Guest guest
 Ursodiol or urso or actigall are usually prescribed to protect your gall bladder and a surgeon told me 1 T olive oil plus 1T apple cider vinegar would be sufficient to protect my gall bladder. IV rocephin is quite a wonder drug. > > > hi, I am to go on rocephine soon for 4 months.
