Guest guest
Hi , I would have to say Yes I do think the IV helped alot but I am still taking antibiotics orally and on Mepron second round for babesia. I had horrible cognitive problems. I couldn't find my way home from work. I was very anxious and had terrible panic attacks all the time. Lived in terrible fog. I couldn't comprehend a childrens movie, couldn't follow a recipee, my speech was stammering, very difficult when you are reading to a child, especially Harry Potter, my nine year old thought there were twice the number of characters in the book. I didn't understand a thing I read. I had severe pressure in my head alot of it in my ears. I was extremely noise and light sensitive. I had severe joint pain of my hips, back, knees and wrists. The bottoms of my feet hurt and my glands were swollen all the time. I ran low grade fevers mid day almost every day. I developed tremors and did have 1 seizure fall of 09. My stomach bloated to a nine month pregnancy size when I ate and I was very nauseated without any appetite. I gained 30 pounds but it wasn't from eating, I had severe thrush when I was not on any antibioitcs. I was the walking dead in the AM and had to sit down in the shower because the heat made me feel like I was going to pass out. I had chills and was freezing to the bone all the time with my temperature in the AM 96.- 97 degrees. I had word recall and short term memory problems. I had excruciating neck pain and nerve pain and numbness and tingling in my extremities. My arms felt like lead in the AM. My eyes were so dry I could barely open them and had Uveitis in both eyes. I was extremely excessive compulsive with everything. My family didn't get to finish their dinner before I was pulling dishes off the table; yes I was doing what I knew by feeding my family but wanted my job of cleanup to be done so I could sit down before I passed out on the kitchen floor. I felt toxic. I felt like electricity was running through my veins and that a ant farm was crawling on me. I had tachycardia and air hunger too. I'm sure I'm missing a few things but according to the 15 docs I saw and all my friends and I'd have to say family too, " I looked Good! " I would have lost a limb if someone would make it go away. I did many things other then the IV Rocephin. I sent stool samples to Enterolab and was informed I was gluten, soy, egg, yeast and dairy intolerant. This was before I was diagnosed. I was getting nowhere with doctors. I went on a gluten free diet and stayed on it for 1.5 years and was on this for 10 months before I knew I had Lyme. I continued the diet 8 more months after my diagnosis. I also did IVIG injections to boost my immune system. I did Meyers coctails of high dose vitamins to boost my immune system some more after I was done with the IV rocephin this was also IV. I pulsed in oral antibiotics using Dr. Burrascano's pulsing method with IV Rocephin. I did IV glutathione to aide in opening my detoxification pathways. I took tons of supplements mostly what Dr. Burrascano recommended in hs Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease. I exercised every day even if the only thing I could do that day was walk to the mailbox. I built it up before I was even diagnosed. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease but knew the docs were wrong. I knew I had to do something. I joined a gym and had to quit my job as a nurse. I took lots of probiotics and ate whole foods, I was scared to eat anything else. I felt so lousy that if I herxed on the IV Rocephin I didn't even know it. I became very depressed and withdrawn and I remember the " creepy crawlees " were very intense but they didn't hurt, just reminded me of these darn keets and friends making holes in every joint, tissue and organ in my body. Different docs told different things about those feelings. It was a nervous system response that was hard to get rid of and it was die off of the bacteria. I had to believe it was a game of Asteroids and I was getting them. You have to stay positive and atuned to your body and your determination will get you through. Lyme and friends will not win in me, I'm too stubborn. Mosts days I wasn't functioning before noon, but would always see my kids off to school no matter what. When my husband and son were diagnosed after me I was crushed. They are both receiving treatment and doing relatively well. Husband has pain issues and numbness and tingling on the right side of his body as prominent symptom and son has severe frontal lobe headaches and stomach issues and rages. My other son who is 11 just got Igenex tests back today and is not CDC positive or Igenex positive but does have a few markers, he is asymptomatic but I will most likely treat him with Doxycycline in the near future and see how he responds while he has a strong immune system. I have to say I really thiink fixing my gut was the most important thing first and that was with the IV as well as the gluten free diet and probiotics. 75% of your immune system is in your gut. I lost alot of my cognitive stuff with that diet and then it completely came back with the IV rocephin. My remaining symptoms are neck and shoulder discomfort, it moves and varies in intensity, but nothing like it used to be. Some head pressure that is infrequent and short in duration , but I think the Mepron is helping with this. I have an occasional low grade and some migratory pain in my knees or elsewhere. My arms feel heavy in the AM and I have some weakness but the arm thing is dramatically improving over the last few days. also, a bit of nerve stuff in my arms but nothing that prevents me from doing anything. I have done lots of different things with my treatment. You can order a Igenex test kit from Igenex and they will ship it to you, it's free. Have a willing doctor sign the upper right hand corner with their name and address and signature with some diagnostic codes and I took my son to Waukesha Memorial Hospital lab and gave them the tubes and the instructions (one of the tubes needs to be spun, so you wait for them to spin it for 10 mins after the draw) I took it home and called fed ex for a pick up (has to be drawn and sent on Mon., Tues. or Wed. so it gets there before the weekend) The hospital didn't charge me for the draw, order from doc with the paperwork filled out and it's a prepaid envelope for fed ex express that comes with the kit from Igenex. Had to include a check or CC #. I wouldn't bother with the coinfection stuff because there is too many strains and they only test for two. I had everything done and paid $1500.00 but don't feel it was necessary if your working with a LLMD. I did test positive for Erilichiosis (indeterminate = weak positive) but the first oral antibiotic I took was doxycycline and that covers that and lyme as well. As the layers start to peel off then I knew I had Bartonella and Babs. and the doc treated. You'll get through this. Email me privately if you want to talk via phone sometime. I think the computer is telling my jabber jaws that I'm out of room and I better not take up any more room or they will ban me from the board. We are all here for you and will help as much as we can along the way. I couldn't even comment on this board for months when I joined and didn't understand half of the stuff I read now look at me I can't shut up. (shush Mike, don't interrupt me, remember my mouth is interstate 94)
