Guest guest
Well, that would certainly explain it, huh? I wonder how companies are able to get away with lumping things under " natural flavors " . It sure is frustrating. Thanks! Guest guest
Same way they can sink $4b companies right under everybody's nose... political palm grease! ;^) Get used to the notion that neither the government nor the commercial food producers give a whit about your (or your child's) health. Buy locally-produced *whole* foods whenever possible... preferably organic. Check around your area for farms that sell " shares " in their harvest, and periodically they deliver to your door or you go to the farm to pick up. If you're anything like me, you haven't a clue what to do with the stuff, lol! I have subscribed to a bunch of canning, freezing, and recipe lists -- even if they don't post the recipes I need, they are great about answering requests (like " what do I do with 40 lbs. of ______? " ). With hundreds of subscribers, *somebody* is bound to know, and be able to answer you fairly quickly. And you will KNOW what is in your food! > Well, that would certainly explain it, huh? Guest guest
I know I'm not going to be much help here, because this is all so new to me still, but I'm having flashbacks from before I started Atkins...when I used to pig out on ben and jerry's nearly every single night. I used to get MAJOR phlem in my throat for hours and hours afterwards! I mean, coughing, upper chest congestion, TONS of disgusting phlegm in my throat. THAT was candida???? I mean, I'd never had those symptoms before about a year or so ago. So many foods can cause this? Is this why you're wondering about the broth? I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but every time I read something on this list, or on a web site, that lightbulb goes on. Thanks for putting up with me, guys. Jalilah > Hi all, > I made dinner last night and my step-daughter and I ended up with major phlegm afterwards so I was wondering if someone might know by looking at the ingredients below what could be the culprit? I was thinking it was the beef broth that I used. I got it from the Health Food store and it doesn't have blatently bad ingredients. I was thinking it may have been the Barley Malt (yes, a no-no) but wasn't sure. Ingredients as follows: > > pork chops, sage, salt, pepper, simmered in 1/2 cup Beef Broth (filtered water, beef extract, barley malt, onion powder, sea salt, natural flavors) > > What the heck constitutes " natural flavors " ? I hate that. Oh, and what exactly is " beef extract " ? > > Yeah, I should probably not use the beef broth anymore, but just want to know so that I can avoid it in other foods as well. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. > > Jenifer > > > > > > >
