Hi!

I feel bad for you, such lousy health luck.

I'm pretty much a lurker here...and any symptoms I have aren't nearly as

disabilitating as some folks. I still go to work, and do things, have a bf

and a sex life, etc. I'm not totally convinced yeast is a problem-though I

score high enough on that test that its certainly possible.

But anyway, one thing I think has been a trigger to other myriad

problems...Nearly 18 months ago, I got mono. Urgh, of all things. I was

run down before that, bronchitis, etc. I lost both my parents within a

year of each other in '96, and don't think I've ever totally recovered my

strength.

Anyway, the major troubles from the mono/Epstein Barr lasted a year. But

it went on so long I began to get concerned about CFS-and I still will have

my days, when I get so weak and tired I can barely stand up, and the

occasional brain fog day.

Now when my doctor did the mono test, it was negative. It was only when he

did a test specifically for Epstein Barr that I had a positive. Then I had

near constant elevated liver enzymes, etc. It really just took time for

me. I had to be patient.

I had the severe fatigue, have always had pms, and until just recently,

vaginal yeast infection after yeast infection...that was awful.

EBV is funny. Most everyone has been exposed to it by the time they're

25-most never show any symptoms beyond being a bit tired for a few

weeks. But usually the folks who really get sick have symptoms for

months. And it will always be in your blood now. I had initially heard

that once you've had it, it won't come back-but that's not the most recent

info. Certain traumas may trigger a relapse-perhaps another injury or

accident. This is what worries me the most.

Looking back over my post, I'm not sure there's much there to help you, but

maybe something.

Sorry this got so long.

Hi,

I had a severe case of mono almost 5 years ago, and haven't been the

same since. Finally I went to a chronic fatigue doctor,

Teitelbaum, who is one of THE experts on CFS in the US. He's helped

me a great deal. I do have a systemic yeast infection as well, and

that contributes to my symptoms. But I think the EBV kicked all this

off and allowed the candida and other junk, along with fatigue, to

take over. Then again, some people say an overgrowth of yeast will

allow all the other infections (like EBV) to gain a foothold.

Whichever comes first, they both need to be addressed, and if you are

concerned that you might have EBV in your system than I do recommend

getting tested, because it does cause significant fatigue. For me

personally, once I got the EBV under control the yeast infection

symptoms manifested. But Dr. Teitelbaum has helped me so much. Though

I still have a ways to go, I am so much better than I was one year

ago or even 6 months ago.

Hope this helps.

Craig

Hi Lynne,

Dr. Teitelbaum is located in polis, MD. He has a website,

www.endfatigue.com, and a great book called from Fatigued to

Fantastic.

By the time I went to see him my EBV was under control, so I didn't

really do any specific treatments for it. I know he uses transfer

factors, Valtrex (depends on the situation), and other natural

remedies. There is a product called Thymic Protein A that boosts the

immune system more than anything I've ever used. Whenever I'm feeling

I might be getting a cold or something I take some of that and I

start to feel better quickly. It's quite expensive though. I know he

carries it on his website, but it may be available other places, I

just haven't checked.

Craig,

Thanks so much! I'll definitely check that out! If I can get the EBV under

control I'll have more energy to fight off other things!

Lynne,

Glad I can help. I must say that Dr. Teitelbaum is pretty expensive,

but he has an online test you can take which gives recommendations

for your health. And if you have a doctor who will work with Dr.

Teitelbaum's program, he has a section in the back of his book for

your doctor to read. I think also there are doctors listed on his

site who follow his protocol, so you might find one close to you.
