Guest guest
> ~ Esther ~, It is so cool you got to go to the beach. How does a beach wheelchair work? Is it electric? My husband and I just bought a little sail boat! I had to give up bicycling and so we wanted something else to do together. First he had me work the Jib sail in the front of the boat. That spot in the boat makes you move around alot and I looked like a Dalmatian afterwards with all my bruises. So we moved me to the Tiller to steer the boat. Well, I have attention deficit disorder and you can imagine what happens when I am steering. I go along course and someone goes by and I look at them and forget to steer and whoops we lose our wind. My poor husband! He is so patient with me. Saturday we will go again to a bigger lake for our first deep water adventure. We have been practicing in our neighborhood lake which is only 5 feet deep. Our first time out we both went Man(Woman) Overboard and we could stand up in the water. Ha what fun this is. Sorry to hear about your work accident. Hope your chair is fixed soon. Take care. Guest guest
Hi Pat, A Beach Wheelchair is kinda hard to explain. Basically it is a very large-type, hard plastic, very large wheels that glide over the beach sand instead of sinking into it like my regular one does.......not electric LOL......looks like a big Fisher Price Toy. Here in N.J. I know that some of the State Parks have them also. Down the shore they are available by calling and reserving them........no actual charge for using them but they do ask for a donation. I have a picture of me in the chair on the beach with my nephew and neice so I will send it to the file site if we can figure out how to do that LOL. Hope you enjoyed your weekend sailing and that you two did not go overboard hehehee ~ Esther ~ ----- Original Message ----- From: England, J <pje@...> < egroups> Sent: Friday, August 11, 2000 10:40 AM Subject: [ ] RE: Esther Day at the Beach > > > > ~ Esther ~, > It is so cool you got to go to the beach. Guest guest
Pat, A sail boat sounds like fun! I hope you and your husband enjoy it. I had to give up bicycling many years ago, but I have found a recumbent tandem bike that I can ride with my husband. It is very expensive, almost 3 grand (gag!), so it will take awhile of saving my pennies. They even have recumbent tykes! If you want to see what they look like: http://www.rans.com/bikes.htm It sounds like you are having lots of fun with the sailboat! I hope you stayed aboard Saturday! a ----- Original Message ----- From: England, J <pje@...> < egroups> Sent: Friday, August 11, 2000 10:40 AM Subject: [ ] RE: Esther Day at the Beach > > > > ~ Esther ~, > It is so cool you got to go to the beach.
