Guest guest
, I live around 60 miles south of where you work ( according to your email address). I have an excellent ENT doctor who really does show true concern for my care. But, he works by himself in his own practice. Since my August 12th surgery, I have been battling major infections in my ear. The doctor that I am seeing has openly admitted that he is open to suggestions from other doctor's. Do you know of a good place where I can get a second opinion in your area? I still want to see my current ENT doctor, but thought that if I seek another medical practice, he would have other doctors to consult with. What do you think? Guest guest
Hi Ann, If I'm the right , your choices nearby would be my doctor in Pittsburgh, Dr. Barry Hirsch. He's a really impressive guy. See: http://www.mirm.pitt.edu/people/bios/Hirsch1.asp He would see you at the Eye & Ear Institute of Pittsburgh. There is another neurotologist there by the name Dr. Yael Raz, but I've never met her. Another possibility would be Dr. Wetmore in town, WV. See: http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/som/otolaryngology/wetmore.asp Interestingly, at some point both Dr. Hirsch and Dr. Wetmore studied otologic surgery at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. There are others in the area, but I've never been to them. There are a couple of neurotologists at Allegheny General Hospital ( Chen and Todd Hillman). Dr. Chen did a fellowship at the House Ear Clinic. Dr. Hillman may have studied under Dr. Hirsch. Others in the area include: Debra A. Eaton (Sewickley - affiliated with WPAHS) and B. Banyas (McMurray - affiliated with Canonsburg General Hospital). I hope that this helps. I'm just glad to be able to be taken care of by Dr. Hirsch. Guest guest
Thank you for your reply! I am currently seeing Dr. Banyas who is an excellent ENT doctor!!! I am so blessed by having an ENT doctor who truly cares about me! He is wonderful!! I am a teacher and one of the parents that I know is a nurse. She worked for years at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh. Her job there was to monitor patients during surgery for the removal of cholesteatomas. The parent that worked for the Eye and Ear hospital told me that my current doctor has an ext reputaion ( and by eperieence I know that this is true. . She just recommended that I see someontone at the eye and ear hospital, so that my ENT doctor has someone to correspond with concerning my condition.
