For years I took synthroid, and the like, and got no relief. Since then, I've learned that the problem may not have been the types of hormones, but the dosage. I have also tried OTC thyroid extracts (as well as adrenal extracts), but they were no benefit to me. In fact, they made me sicker. Because I took both together, I can't say for sure which extract caused the problem...I was taking them because the naturopath I saw told me to. I even switched to different brands and had the same problems: severe constipation and an awful vaginal discharge. As soon as I would stop taking the extracts, immediately the discharge would stop and the constipation would be relieved. A book that helped me so much was Thyroid Power.
