Guest guest
Oh, so true. I really really need to get into counseling with , I know this stuff will come so easily once I am in the mindset of thinking that way. Money and time, money and time, money and time....I guess once I no longer have my health these things will mean nothing right? And speaking of money I am feeling the pressure of the holidays coming up. Does anyone have traditional (or not so traditional) gifts that they give to their family members? Last year we didn't do gifts, and this year we have all decided to, but don't want to get sucked into the traditional "junk" that we usually end up giving and getting. I know that is off topic, but I just thought that I might get some neat ideas here. [sPAM][VeganMacrobi otics] Vita-mix This is really an offbeat question, as are most of mine I guess, but does anyone here own or ever use a vita-mixer? I keep getting call after call, and now emails somehow about buying a vita-mixer and I wonder what the hype is all about? Or is it hype? Anyway, I need to somehow get off the constant call lists for this thing. Just wondering if anyone had some insight. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __

Guest guest
do you sew? I'm also looking to give meaningful gifts this year while minimizing the environmental impact-- I think I'm going to make fabric tote bags for the ladies on my list, and slippers for the men made from felted wool sweaters from the thrift store. I have links to both if you're curious or want to see what it entails--both free patterns on the internet. I'm also toying with a " spa in a bag " for the tote idea, just some simple sea salt/essential oil body scrubs in recyclable ball canning jars, face mask, etc. I have some fun silk to make aromatherapy eye pillows... you said you enjoy herbs? You could make herbal teas for those who might receive them well, and make something for the cold weather with cinnamon and orange rind, etc. just a few thoughts from the top of my head, I'm sure you'll find more ideas as time goes on! have a great, great day! Holly > I did get some good replies!! I am actually surprised at how many people own them....especially since they cost as much as a dishwasher some of them, lol. Anyway, the more I hear about them, the more I was thinking that they would be good for veggie drinks, soups, hummus, etc. But, I have a food processor and that is where I have been trying to make the distinction really - how this would be different from a food processor, or blender. I know that the motor in the vitamix is the same size motor in a lawn mower, so that explains the difference a bit! > > It is interesting that you mention the sounds and sensitivity to them. I am just realizing that my three year old is becoming extremely sensitive to loud noises like that. Lately, every time we start making something he asks reluctnantly if we have to use the beaters or the blender. It is something that is just coming about, but he certainly does not like the " loudness " of the kitchen appliances, or other items like the hair dryer recently. > > Thanks for all the vitamix input! > > > [sPAM][VeganMacrobi otics] Vita-mix > > > This is really an offbeat question, as are most of mine I guess, but does anyone here own or ever use a vita-mixer?
