LOL Well, for ONE thing, they are not taught that this is a disease. Most of them don't even acknowledge that it exists. MY GYN told me that the only person he EVER saw with systemic candida was " dying " . I tried to point out that maybe THAT was an acute case, but that chronic candida doesn't kill you rapidly, jsut a little ....day by day. Of course, he didn't " get it " . They have never been told anything about candidiasis in med school, and many refuse to believe that it exists. Another reason they don't " get it " is that in MANY (most) cases, the candida is actually CAUSED by doctors. Years of antibiotics, steroids, hormones, etc break down our immune systems and kill off our healthy GI bacteria. So of course they don't want to recogize that their beloved " modern medicine " caused it. A third reason that they don't recognize (in the sense of admitting that it exists) is that there is a VERY tight relationship between traditional medical doctors and the phsrmaceutical industry. There is no $ to be made by doctors or pharmaceuticals in treating candida.... it is far more profitable for them to treat the SYMPTOMS of the candida, which guarantees that we will continue to need their services and products. After all, if we get rid of candida, there goes most of our GI problems, our vaginal yeast infections, many of our hormone problems (and results thereof), our skin problems, sinus infections, etc. Need I go on???? LOL Lynn (who is a nurse, and sees a lot of this)
