Tim,

It has been wonderful having you in the chat room. It's kinda nice to have

another guy.

Keep up the great work physically and spiritually. I love that this has

brought you closer to your kids. This is probably one of the best times in

their

teen years to have a close relationship with Dad, to have a good role model to

set the example.

Tim,

Thanks for the update. I have been thinking of you. I even asked the people

who attended our Atlanta meeting if they had heard from you. (Maybe you frequent

the chat room still, but I haven't been able to get online in the evening in

quite sometime.) Anyway, I am so glad you are doing well. God is so good, and

it really sounds as if He is blessing the socks off of ya!!

Hello All,

Well it's time for another update. My surgery date was 8-12-04 so I

am about 9 weeks out. My highest weight was 329 and I had lost 17

before surgery so a pre-op weight of 312! Today I weighed in at

248!!!!! 64 lbs lost since surgery and 81 total! Thank you Dr Walsh

for your good work!

I have to say that I cannot remember ever feeling better than I feel

now! My life has changed dramatically in many ways. First of all, I

no longer have high blood pressure, swollen legs, shortness of

breath, or the sweats. I don't snore anymore either, my family is

eternally grateful for this! My back pain is gone as well! I was

virtually unable to walk more than 100 feet without having to sit and

rest from the pain. I have had back surgery once already and have

another bad disc that had been causing severe pain. While I still

have to watch it with that bad disc I am now completely pain free

when walking and standing! The Dr. is confident that I can avoid disc

surgery with continued exercise and physical therapy.

I am leading a much more active life now. Every morning I get up

early and walk 3 miles in about 40 minutes. I feel great after this

and don't even break a sweat. I have so much extra energy that I have

been able to go anywhere with my kids and not slow them down one bit!

Traveling has become a pleasure again! I fit in the seats, any of

them! I no longer need an extension! I can even use the fold down

tray in front of me! I have been doing sit-ups and crunches daily,

hoping to tighten things up a bit!

My relationship with my children has become much closer. They were so

supportive of what I was doing all the way along the path to MGB.

They brought me back to God as well. I have written about this

before. My children told me that, sometimes I need to let them lead

me! We now attend Church together and belong to a bible study group

as well. I am learning to be a better person, on the inside as well!

The clothing situation is fun but costly! I have been pretty lucky in

that my boss (MGB 1-04) has been handing down lots of clothes to me!

Unfortunately, he skipped over size 46 pants. I've had to buy a

couple pairs of those recently. My pant size before surgery was 54 " .

I have had to buy new belts, shoes, and more. My shirt size was 3x or

4x depending on the brand and style. I am now wearing XL shirts in

some cases! This means I can buy clothes at regular stores! That is

cool!

As for food, my love affair with it is over! I have had zero issues

with anything I have tried to eat. I just eat slowly, take small

bites and chew chew chew! My tastes have changed a lot. I have

eliminated fatty foods completely from my diet and I don't miss them.

I have not had any fried foods at all. The only breads I have eaten

are flour tortillas when I make a quesadilla! I have always loved

fish of all kinds and still do, but I have lost my interest in beef

in general and steaks in particular. I just don't find them

appealing. I eat all kinds of veggies in small amounts after I get my

protein in. I have been getting in yogurt two times a day (with

Citrucel), and also have extra protein in a shake or bar one or two

times a day. My snacks are varied and include banana, beef jerky

(this I like), baby carrots, cheese cubes and such. I never feel

deprived or like I am not getting enough to eat. In fact when I see

what my friends are eating and know that I would have been eating

that much and more it makes realize how this process has changed me!

Managing the citrucel, protein and stuff while I am on the road has

been a little bit of a challenge but I have finally figured it out! I

have not had issues with the Actigall, or Citrucel. I have had no

stomach pains, no excess gas or anything like it. At first I had

terrible gurgling noises in my belly all of the time. This has

completely stopped at this point. I haven't had the stinky gas that I

read about on the board either, at least so far.

This week I had a great experience at my office. One of the beautiful

ladies that work with me saw me in my " skinny clothes " . Not really

skinny but this combination makes me look thinner than many of my

other clothes. She said that I was looking really good, she even used

the word HOT! As I walked with her down the hall she stopped in her

tracks, when I looked back she told me to keep moving and that she

wanted to check out my backside! It made my decade!

Finally, I want to thank all of the post-op people that were

so generous with their time and information as I was working on my

packet. Their support was very important to me and made a great

difference. Also everyone in the MGB Chat room, , a, Jenna,

KJ, and of course , love you girl! You all have made a

difference in my life!

Thanks for reading this long winded update!

Just thought I'd take a moment to let everyone know how I am doing so far. I

actually started the program 10 weeks ago tomorrow but the first four days or so

I took time to wean myself off coffee and finish off the fresh fruit in my

fridge...so I have been 100% legal for 9 weeks as of this past Sunday.

I am aware that it will take me a long time to cure the Candida; but so far I

have made drastic improvements in other areas of my health. As of last Thursday

morning's doctor visit I have lost 35 lbs. My A1C (long term blood sugar) has

dropped from a horrible 7.5 to an almost normal 6.0. I expect it will be 5

something next time we test (July).

Even better...while I have read all the cholesterol info and was assured by a

friend who is a naturopath that my choleaterol would improve, I was skeptical.

Guess I was brainwashed by the myths and hype out there. But no more. I am a

total believer.

My total cholesterol was 202 and is now 154

My LDL was 121 and is now 72 (my doctor is astonished)

My HDL was 56 and is now 68

Thank you to Bee for this wonderful program!

And thank you to my dear friend Cory for pointing me in this direction.

family.
