Barbara:

I would highly suggest you talk to your dr. about these symptoms you are

having. We can only speculate here and could be very wrong. I am certain

your dr. would want to know about this asap. Good Luck.

Hi,

I started taking planquinol and minocycline (SP?) at

the same time and have had mild headaches, dizzyness

and upset stomach on and off since. Has anyone else

had these side effects from either? If so did they go

away after awhile even if you continued taking the

meds?

I am also wondering if it could be electrolyte

balance, allergies or something crohns disease (which

I have) related because I have also had more diarhea

but this could also be because of the meds??

Thanks for your thoughts. Barbara

Barbara,

I am surprised that you are taking both of them together. I'll see if I can

find anything about the combination. I know that the minocycline can cause

your symptoms. How long have you been on it?

Welcome, Barbara!

I see that you asked about minocycline before. Sorry I haven't responded

until now, but I was out of town when you first posted, and I wasn't sure

you were still around.

I was on minocycline for about a year and a half. I think it helped me. It's

impossible to say for sure, but I believe that it relieved my stiffness

considerably.

My physician recommended I take acidophilus bifidus (good bacteria) with the

minocycline. I took it faithfully and never experienced any yeast infections

or other side-effects.

I've never taken Plaquenil. I will say that I was at the Mayo Clinic in

Rochester, MN last October and they would rather see me on Plaquenil than

minocycline. They thought I should discontinue the minocycline (which I did)

and see what happens. I felt better on it, but I can't say that I'm

suffering terribly at the moment. I've been ill since November of 1996, but

I currently have no firm diagnosis.

Glad you are here. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Hope you feel

better very soon!
