Guest guest
I'm often very hungry to distraction. I was hoping it's just cravings presenting as hunger, but even after the raw egg drink - 3 eggs and coconut oil it's as if I haven't had anything at all and feel like I'm starving! what can i do to stop this constant hunger? NO carbs....at least not the kind I htink you mean (bread, rice, potatoes, etc.) Carbs feed candida. Just a couple of days ago someone else talked about feeling hugry...Bee's advice was to increase consumption of " good " fats, try taking a spoonful of coconut oil and see if that helps...or....drink one of the lemon/sea salt drinks, wait 10-15 min. and see if you are still hungry. I believe she said you can increase vitamin C intake...not sure how much, but it certainly wouldn't hurt you. there's no reason you couldn't also have an extra egg or two or some other bit of protein you may have leftover in the fridge. Many folks keep some boiled eggs in the fridge or cooked chicken, etc. for snacking on. For that matter, it doesn't take long to fry and egg when you're hungry. hth, jackie p.s. you can look back through the messages for the other posts on someone being hungry...the subject line had something to do with craving protein. It was written by ROM.
Guest guest
I get that hunger everyday and what helps me is mostly the darkmeat chicken. Not like floating in fat, but definatly with enough to satisfy the hunger. But I also noticed that I have to balace that out with either trout or a fish oil supplement to keep my blood pressure in and other things feeling good. > > > > I do feel like I need carbs, aren't we to stay away from them (other > > than veggies)? > > > > you are correct. So you could eat only meats and fats and still obtain plenty of carbs. Carbs are not the only foods that help the body balance blood sugar. Guest guest
Jackie, you are correct about what to take when you are craving carbs or when you get very hungry. Often we " think " carbs are the answer because they have become " comfort foods " , however natural cravings are usually for minerals, or even water. Sometimes you just need to eat some protein, i.e. eggs. Extra vitamin C can be 1,000 mgs. every hour until you reach bowel tolerance (loose stools) and then you cut back to the amount that doesn't produce loose stools. Guest guest
Is it hunger 'pains' or appetite? If it's hunger pains that don't go away, I have this occasionally and don't know what it is. It seemed when I was younger it coincided with my periods. However now I don't know. They won't even go away after I've eaten something. Not a whole meal but a reasonable size snack. I assume it means my body needs 'something', but I've never figured out a particular classification of things. I happen to have had this just a few nights ago even though I haven't had it for a very long time. I ate a few almond crackers. Not on the Candida diet but I can keep them bedside and saves me a trip downstairs to the kitchen to get something from the refrig. Normally just a couple of crackers will do the trick. They are made of rice and almond flour and are low carb, but not no carb, no sugars or white flour. Anyway, I had quit a few and then about 15 minutes later hunger 'pains', real pains, returned, not just an appetite. It may just mean I didn't meet my nutritional needs during the day. I finally fell asleep in spite of them but sometimes I can't. I've tried different things. Getting up and having a tablespoon of fish oil or pat of butter with a little sea salt added. Sometimes these fats help but as I said I was too sleepy to do the stairs. I really think it is a sign I didn't have enough protein during the day since fats are stored but protein isn't stored. I could get up and make a poached egg or something but I usually too sleepy to be interested in cooking. Anyway, those are my experiences. > > It sounds to me like you need some carbs to balance your blood sugar. > nne >
Guest guest
I had this quite bad for a few weeks (it was keeping me awake at night) and my doctor suspected an ulcer. My stomach felt like it was about to growl but never did and it was driving me crazy! I would eat and it would feel better for about a half hour and then what felt like intense hunger pains would be back. My blood test was negative and I didn't want to do any invasive testing so he prescribed Nexium and it helped right away. I didn't want to rely on it or take it long term so I just took it for a week and then dealt with the discomfort (which wasn't as bad) and it went away after a few days. I very rarely take prescription drugs but it was quite a relief to feel 'normal' again. I wasn't following the Candida diet at the time. Actually, I'm not following it now but I plan to try again this weekend. Please, wish me luck! I need it! I'm not very disciplined these days. I'm determined to stick with it this time and finally feel better! barb1283 <barb1283@...> wrote: Is it hunger 'pains' or appetite? Guest guest
My hunger pains are bad too, also can't sleep because of them. Same thing, even if I just ate. One thing I noticed is that if my allergies are bothering me or I just had an exposure to chemicals (which I'm sensitiveto) i not only get other reactions but I get very hungry as well. This happened to me yesterday. I came into contact with someone wearing perfume and even though it was not long after a good breakfast, suddenly I became hypoglycemic and was starving. It sounds like a strange phenomenon, but I spoke to someone who also used to get this, she believes it has to with the adrenals. Tami, I've never heard that an ulcer can cause hunger. I believe the blood test to test for that is H Pylori. Barb, it may be the carbs that might make things worse. Is ther a protein you can keep upstairs ready to eat - no cooking? I'm still working on improving my candida diet too, so good luck to all of us :-) Elyse Tami <tami92109@...> wrote: I had this quite bad for a few weeks (it was keeping me awake at night) and my doctor suspected an ulcer. Guest guest
I think I may try an antiacid next time it happens. Perhaps some acid is dumped in the stomach and then your stomach wants food to dilute it or something. Anything simple like that is worth a try. These episodes have long puzzled me, not frequent, and before the Candida diet or problem, so unrelated in my case I believe. I don't know any protein that can be out of the frig. The incidences aren't that frequent, so I will just muddle through them. I guess I could take a bottle of olive oil upstairs and try a tablespoon of that when I have difficulty like that. Barb, it may be the carbs that might make things worse. Guest guest
Are you hypoglycemic? If so it could be the insulin which kicks in when you eat carbohydrates, especially sweets. Eating protein helps me. I don't eat carbohydrates on an empty stomach, because I think it is the insulin which causes the " hunger pangs " . Raw eggs don't help at such times. I need to cook my eggs and hard boiled works better. I don't allow myself to get hungry because oftentimes if I do reach that point no matter how much I eat the " hunger " pain stays with me. Perhaps some acid is dumped in the stomach and then your stomach wants food to dilute it or something. Anything simple like that is worth a try. ==>Antiacids contain aluminum - take 1 tsp baking soda in warm water instead. Your own body make baking soda to neutralize acid in the stomach contents that reach the duodenum - made by the pancreas. >These episodes have long puzzled me, not frequent, and before the Candida diet or problem, so unrelated in my case I believe. It is much easier to take coconut oil than olive oil, and better for you. A little cold sauerkraut will often settle the stomach too. Guest guest
In some other reading I was doing, (Primal Blueprint), he talks about how it takes your body a while to switch over from burning glucose to burning fat. (Bee talks about this too.) But what I didn't " get " until I read that book is that until your body learns how to burn the fat, you will feel the cravings for the glucose (simple and starchy carbs). This can take a few weeks to make the switch. Once your body is burning fat for fuel, your body will know how to get it (either thru diet or your fat stores) and your body won't feel so hungry/cravy. hth, Marla On Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 5:40 AM, Bee <beeisbuzzing2003@...> wrote: > > > > > Today I had 289.3 grams of fat and I'm allowed 183-263, 150.2 protein and > I'm allowed 75g and 11g carb and I'm allowed 60g.
