Guest guest
Just wondering.....if it takes nails 6 months to grow out from the nailbed to the tip of the finger (or toe in this case), would that give one an idea of how long it would take the toenail fungus to be gone? Or is the growth of the toenail not related to the fungus situation. Thanks Bee! That makes good sense.) Unfortunately, my Mom's toenails are extreme with fungus now (she is 80) and she is not in good condition at all. She has diabetes, congestive heart failure, liver disease (her tummy is so big, she looks PG) degenerating discs in her back which creates constant pain, high blood pressure, etc. She is on many meds and in a precarious balance without much energy at all. I am really stuck on how to help her because she ends up in the hospital if anything at all is altered in her diet or meds. ( She was so active gardening and walking on her treadmill every morning and tried to eat healthy for years with what knowledge she knew before everything hit her in the last few years. I would love to be able to help her, but am really stumped at this point and wonder if there is anything that can help her at all. It is so hard to see her this way. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Gosh, I'm sorry to hear your Mom is in such rough shape. It's hard to see anyone be that ill, let alone a parent (or child). Have you talked to your mom about some of the dietary changes you're making? Even simple changes, like restricting or removing carbs and sugars would really help all her ailments. I have a friend who is an insulin dependent diabetic so I do know that much or what your mom is dealing with could be a direct correlation of the diabetes...but still, cleaing her diet even a little would help her and help you feel like you're being pro-active. I would also recommend some easy stretching exercises (like chair yoga--do a web search on that) and some deep breathing exercises. I was listening to a cassette tape by Dr. Weil about breathing and he was describing how just 5-10 minutes of slow, deep breathing a day will benefit the body in a myriad of ways. His website has lots of articles about breathwork that you can research and then take the info to your mother or demonstrate it with her so she can see how easy it is to do. His web address is: http://www.drweil.com/u/Home/index.html Just type the word " breathing " into the search funciton and you'll find loads of info there. Unfortuantely he doesn't believe in Candida overgrowth, but he does know about breath! ) best of luck, jackie > Unfortunately, my Mom's toenails are extreme with fungus now (she is > 80) and she is not in good condition at all.
