Listen people, I have seen the doctors screw up people left and right. What is diagnosed as this or that may be a mere nutrient deficiency. For example, when I started taking raw honey...i mean really really raw honey with royal jelly, propolis in it...comb...i saw a boost in my mind, energy and out look. When my eyes were strained because of too much computer use, i was getting depressed. Vitamins didn't work until i went liquid vitamin. Problem went away. Attitude changed. My point is. The quick fix is going to some doctor who is totally in bed with drug companies or going the hard road which is trial and error with nutritional supplements. I think the latter will cure the problem eventually and also keep your body in tact for the long run.
Guest guest
I agree with you. May I ask what all you do take and for what symptoms? You can email me privately if you wish. Thanks! -- Re: Not sure if this is dealing with my hypothyroidism In a message dated 9/7/2002 1:46:42 PM Eastern Daylight Time, grrlicious_17@... writes: > I have been doing a paper on bipolar disorder. While looking into > that I have found more information on hypothyroidism. Guest guest
I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 1987. I have to say having the disease that long that I feel like a newbie. I have just recently started to educate myself. I suffer with depression also. I didn't know what it was for a long time. I can't really say that it is related to my thyroid disease but can't rule it out either. I know what you mean. It is easy to think every ill we have is thryoid related. I am here to learn from others. I want to know what works and what doesn't work. Well, don't think I've been much help to you. There are a lot of people here more knowledgable than me. I just wanted you to know you aren't alone. HTH! -- Not sure if this is dealing with my hypothyroidism I have been doing a paper on bipolar disorder. While looking into that I have found more information on hypothyroidism. I knew that it could cause weight problems and everything, but I just read that it can also cause depression. I have been depressed for a few years now. I was just wondering if anyone here was experiencing this. I also want to know if you think it is related to my thyroid problem or if you think it is seperate.I had taken myself off of my thyroid medicine and have just gotten put back on. I haven't had enough time to tell a difference. I just don't want to make myself feel better by saying it is related to what I'm going through, and it end up being something more serious. Guest guest
Hello, Hypothyroidism has been linked to significant depression. Many doctors and psych.'s working with seriously depressed people have discovered that, while the usual anti-depressants may not help at all, or some, but not totally, T3 (cytomel) seems to work. Some depressed patients have discovered that just T3 alone (even if not hypothyroid) alleviates most or all of the depression. Others have found that T3 in conjuntion with their anti-depressant alleviates most or all of the depression. And of course, some patients don't benefit from T3 at all. I can't remember the exact relationship, but T3 does have a direct effect on levels of serotonin in the body (serotonin being the neurotransmitter that makes us happy or not happy). That may explain why some people have good luck using T3 on their depression--those are people with serotonin imbalances. People who have dopamine (neuro-transmitter responsible for aggression) imbalances, may not benefit from T3. With Bi-Polar, many patients do benefit from the use of T3--IN CONJUNCTION WITH THEIR ANTI-DEPRESSANT. It can be dangerous to go off the anti-depressant--don't assume that just because T3 seems to be working that it will be completely effective on it's own. BI POLARism is a far more severe type of depression than just the run of the mill depression that a lot of Thyroid patients experience. But, yes, there is a link to BiPolarism and Hypothyroidism. Shomon's book about the thyroid explains that, as well as Dr. Ridha Arem's book. Good Luck! Guest guest
I agree Shimiah.... For me, I don't know if mine was a chemical imbalance or not. I felt 'depressed' because I had gained so much weight (50 lbs) and felt so bad about myself. It's hard to feel happy when you're overweight, in my opinion. I was always healthy looking and when you don't look like the same person, it's just hard. that's all _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
