Guest guest
I have 100 mg tablets of niacin that I've been dividing in half. I've only been taking 1/2 tablet per day because if I take 2 half-tablets a day the second time I take a half-tablet I get fairly bad, uncomfortable flushing. But sometimes I get flushing even if I only take one half-tablet a day. Is it possible that those days I'm getting more niacin from my food and the combination of that and the tablet is too much (as far as causing flushing)? The flushing is fairly uncomfortable and I'd like to figure out what is causing it because right now it is making me not particularly want to take the niacin. Guest guest
, You are supposed to flush from the Niacin...at least for awhile. The flush happens because it is dilating your blood vessels and flushing out the toxins. When you turn red, get warm, itch, etc. it may feel uncomfortable but remind yourself it's all part of the healing process. It only lasts for a short time...maybe 30-40 minutes and goes away. Taking it with meals helps lessen the flush, but some days your body needs less to create a flush than other days, depending upon how it uses it and what it needs. It is not likely that the combination of what you get from foods plus supplements causes more flushing. Flushing means your body needs it. To get less flushing take smaller amounts more often, i.e. 1/4 tablet. Bee
