Guest guest
Hi Bee, Just thought I would report that the changes I have made to conform more to your diet have caused some die-off that is very noticeable today. My period even started a week early, which I don't remember ever happening before. I take that to mean that my hormones have been affected. I have prickly skin and muscle tightness (familiar die-off symptoms for me). Yesterday I began taking a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil and upped that to two tablespoons today. My stomach is queasy and I have somewhat loose stools. It's hard to say if the oil is unsettling to me or to the candida. This is my fifth day taking oil of oregano, and I have gradually cut my high carb foods to only 1/4 cup of millet this a.m. (on my last diet I would have 1 to 1.5 cups of an allowable grain daily). I was already on magnesium, digestive enzymes, probiotics, cod liver oil, high vit. butter oil, and lots of sauerkraut. (I've added in most of your other suggested supplements now also.) Anyway, as much as I hate this icky feeling, it tells me that I still have a ways to go and that your system is having a positive effect. A little background: About 14 months ago I began a program through a nutritionist out of NYC and did consults over the phone with him. (My husband soon joined me in this program.) He used lots of supplements for clearing out the digestive system, rotating many antifungals, supplements for hormone imbalances, etc. This diet allowed fruit, but limited carbs to 60-80 gms. It ended up costing typically $1000 per month for each of us (for the supps, tests, and consult fees). This was ridiculous, but we were having lots of die- off and didn't know of a better program, plus were afraid to quit without an alternative. I would say that this program got us maybe 75% of the way cured, but then we weren't improving any more and didn't want to continue the massive expense (after 11 months of this). After 8 months on this program I took a leaky gut test and found that I had a pretty bad case. Fortunately through a couple of friends that I met along the way (and a local naturopath) I acquired enough information to make a change. A friend had good results with sauerkraut (Body Ecology Diet), so I started that diet. I read the Maker's diet book, Weston Price's nutrition book, then stumbled upon you. I was impressed that you seemed to have combined all the good aspects of the various programs I had heard about. I did have positive results with Body Ecology, and love the cultured foods, but I want to get this over with as efficiently as possible, so I'm cutting out all those carbs and upping the coconut oil and butter. I plan to eat a Weston Price type diet for the rest of my life, but it will be nice to have a more balanced diet once again. One thing I am concerned about is that the nutritionist had me on diatomaceous earth for 7 months. I read your file on diatoms. I suspect that contributed to my leaky gut. Now I'm wondering if this will be an impediment to my fully recovering. Is there something special that I should do? I have been off the dia-min for about 5 months now. My leaky gut test was on Oct. 3, 2005 and at that time I was still on the dia-min. I have improved since then though, but I believe due to eliminating fruit, adding lots of cultured foods, and three colonics (I don't plan any more of those though). Sorry this is so long. I am very impressed by what you do here. Thanks so much! Jan

Thanks. > > One thing I am concerned about is that the nutritionist had me on > diatomaceous earth for 7 months. I read your file on diatoms. I > suspect that contributed to my leaky gut. The diet will heal your intestines from the damage caused. Good fats are extremely healing and help strengthen the intestines. > > Sorry this is so long.
