Guest guest
Hi Geri, Re: Dry Mouth I started thinking (uh-oh) - about diuretics and I suspect they may be the cause of your symptoms. Lasix has it's own side effects, here we go again. It will remove fluid from all the cells, not just the problem areas. The dryness would be most noticeable in eyes, nose, and mouth - all the moist places. I know it's hard to believe that there's a degree of dehydration when other body parts are still poofed up. I think it's a good idea to have these symptoms checked out, but be careful about getting prescriptions for more meds. I've seen some people get into an unnecessary downward spiral with meds. Example - someone takes drug A, takes drug B to counter side effect of drug A. Has side effects from drug B, takes drug C for side effect of drug B - and on and on. Certain side effects absolutely do require more meds. I have high blood pressure from one of my meds - I'd rather take a blood pressure pill than have a stroke, and fluid that pools in your legs/ankles can cause damage over time. But I've found that some doctors prescribe meds a little to readily. Just a suggestion - when you go for your next appointment, if they want to give you something for ex: dry mouth, ask the doc what will happen if you don't take it. You can then make your own decision. I'm not a doctor, I just hate pills, and try to keep them at a minimum. Just nosey - Have you ever had your labs done while on diuretics? What was your Creatinine and what was your BUN?
