Guest guest
Hi All Well I finally got it done. They did the endoscopy first and that wasn't bad at all. During part of the colonoscopy I felt some pretty intense pain when thry were trying to make the turn in the colon. But I survived and I'm feeling pretty good now. The Dr. said everything looked good. He did a biopsy of my colon and will find out the results tomorrow. I'll let you know what the result is. Thanks Barbara Ann and Penny for your emails concerning the procedures. Dianne A.
Guest guest
Dianne, Everyone told me that I'd be " out " for a colonoscopy! You were fully awake? I had a sigmoidoscopy and it was VERY painful. I think I'd run screaming if anyone suggested one again. Take care, Geri
Guest guest
ette: I have AIH. Have tried to be taken off prednisone and Imuran three times and each time failed. I will probably be on it the rest of my life. I hope that when I go down to the Mayo in the fall, that they have some new idea for me to try. I will try anything: for one to just get off pred & Imuran and hope it will help people down the road when the get AIH. Like family members. Guest guest
Hi - just thought i would add my 2 cents. I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday, it was pretty horrible but the stuff they make u drink the nite before to clean u out is the worse. It is the most disgusting thing i have ever drank or tasted. But it does what it is supose to do LOL. Everything turned out ok so that was a relieve. I have been wondering a long time about Prednisone. All u people that are taking it, do u have AIH or PBC? I have PBC stage 4 and my liver dr. absolutely told me no Prednisone. He took me off it right away, my internist had put me on it. My joint and muscle pain became very much worse once i was off it. Went to a rheumy, was told i have partial Fibromyalgia, all the symptons but not enough tender points. Along with fatigue, insomnia, and nauseanous i have been off work since March. Still trying to get up the nerve to try for disability. Hope everyone has a good day, heat has been unbearable up here in Canada. I will go back to lurking now LOL ette Ontario, Canada Re: [ ] the dreaded colonoscopy > From: Geri Spang <spangs@...> > > Dianne, > Everyone told me that I'd be " out " for a colonoscopy! Guest guest
Hi Geri They gave me the drugs wich were quite pleasant (versed and Fentanyl) and did the endoscopy first. I don't remember much after they sprayed my throat. I guess the drugs had started wearing off for the colonscopy. I actually watched the monitor and saw my colon and stuff. But I did have some kind of severe pain when they had me roll onto my back and were turning the corner in the colon. But mostly it was bearable. Today I've felt pretty good but came home from work early as I guess the drugs weren't quite out of my system... plus it was a good excuse to leave! LOL! If you ever decide to have it done I would say go ahead. Drinking the stuff wasn't too bad either. I opted for the unflavored kind and it wasn't bad tasting. It was quite different to have diarrhea and not be sick besides. Take Care, Dianne A.
