Guest guest
Hi Kay, Do you or does anyone know how often Hepatitis shots are necessary? I had innoculations against everything in March 1998 but nothing since. However, I'll have a flu shot this coming Monday. I know some innoculations are good for life and others for many years. My Internist hesitated to even give me a flu shot without a go-ahead from my Hepatologist. Take care, Geri
Guest guest
Hi Geri; I just had the first " A " shot Mon & was told the second one will be in 6 to 12 months. I also see my Dr 11-3 & will check with him about the magnesium out of curiousity. He is my liver Dr & I think he is a hepatoligist also. It was the iternist that told me I did not need more than 400mg of " D " & I mentioned it to the liver Dr last wk & he said too much can be harmful. I am on a pred reduction (1mg a mo.)now so he is cking my blood mo. to see where I have to stop. As a refresher I was reduced from Mar to May to " 0 " & relapsed so had another (3rd) biopsy 7/30 when he then started me back on 10mg & I have felt much better along with 100mg of azathioprine. He said I would probably be on 5mg forever. I had a bone density in '97 when the report was equal to a 35yr old, this was when I began a regular use of pred (20mg) at age of 70. See there is someone older than dirt & than you.:-) I had another bone density 10/8 & it is still good.I have been on HRT since '72 but they have now changed me to a patch which is supposed to have less get to the liver. I hope you get some answers about your discmfort real soon & it is something they can help. My dau-in-law has had pain for 3or4 yrs that they havent been able to find the cause. Last wk she was seen at Stanford Med by a Dr that gave her some hope. The pain has been in spine area sometimes feels pain in hip area. She said he mentioned things the other 15 she has seen never mentioned. So I sure hope they do locate it. She is very tiny & has lost wt. She probably only weighs 100lbs dripping wet. Take care. Guest guest
I love traveling and am planning to go to Brazil for two weeks in mid September. Although it is not required to have any innoculations, it is suggested that you get shots for yellow fever, hepatitis, and polio,as well as, tale anti malaria pills while you're there. Does anybody out there have any advise for me? My blood counts are all normal but my immunity is low. Thanks for any thought on this you may send.
