Guest guest
I had a business dinner at the Slanted Door in SF last week. I was surprised to find out that the woks are seasoned with soy sauce so pretty much anything made in a wok was out. The waiter checked with the chef and then told me I could order any salad (they could change the dressing), anything from the raw bar (shrimp etc), one or two of the meat dishes (pork chops was one of them), and any of the steamed veggie dishes. When they did bring my dish, they also brought the sauce with it that had soy sauce in it -- the waiter quickly removed it when I asked about the sauce but let's say it didn't instill confidence that they knew what they were talking about. Guest guest
Bummer! I'm so sorry to hear of your negative experience at Slanted Door. I've had the opposite experience, several times, there. The waiters that I had the fortune of ordering from were extremely knowledgeable about gluten, came up with excellent suggestions and recommendations, and I ate extremely well without any reaction. Weird. I wonder if seasoning the wok with soy sauce is a new, unfortunate, technique there? FYI, for those of you who don't already know this, Beetlenut, which is a great restaurant with a similar pan-Asian menu in the Marina, has a gluten free menu. lp in SF ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of Luther [l@...] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2008 3:16 PM Subject: [ ] Slanted Door in SF I had a business dinner at the Slanted Door in SF last week.
