Guest guest
Alive! 1972 Lombard Street (Marina) (415) 923.1052 http://www.aliveveggie.com/ raw, vegan, and, IMO WAY better than Café Gratitude. Service is slow though, so don’t go there if you are in a hurry. Minako Restaurant Neighborhood: Mission 2154 Mission St (between 18th St & Clarion Aly) San Francisco, CA 94110 (415) 864-1888 The owner is a friend of mine. The stuff on the menu says “wheat free”, not gluten free (you’ll have to asks for the GF menu), but I’ve never had a problem with it, and I am *super* sensitive. You will, I promise you, never have a better Japanese meal in your life. They have GF tamari. Danko 800 North Point (at Hyde) (415) 749-2060 This is a HIGH END restaurant. You need reservations MONTHS in advance. My husband and I had dinner there for our anniversary. We dropped over $400.00 on dinner, drinks and tips. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. We will be going back again next year. You SO rock for putting this together! Guest guest
This is incredible! You might want to note that there are some dosas at Dosas made with wheat - I don't know if they're made using the same equipment as the gf dosas, but I ate there with no problems. Pasta Pomodoro (or Pomodoro as they're now called, I believe) has a very knowledgable & helpful staff (though they do think blue cheese is a no-no). Their owner had been working with my gi doctor to create a gf menu then had a change of heart (fearful of liability), but there are non pasta items that are gf (including most of the delicious apps and salads) and everyone from the manager to the server to the chef to the busboy makes a point of letting you know they are taking good care of your gf needs. Aslam's Rasoi on Valencia - fantastic Northern Indian and the staff is very helpful. Most entrees (except the deep fried apps and breads) are naturally gf. I think Alive is fantastic, too, but believe they are only open for lunch? They are also at the Ferry Building farmer's market on Tuesdays. (My kids love the mushroom cheesecake...) Thanks again! Guest guest
Blue cheese is usually a no-no because the mold used is grown on bread first in most cases. I think I might have talked to the pasta pomodoro chef you are referring to at that celiac event last december. They stopped doing gf because they were having cc issues and needed to nail down more logistics and training (collanders for the pasta etc). At the time he said they were still working on bringing back a gf menu but that was a while back... Have you heard this news recently? That would be a bummer.
