Welcome Meghan to our group. I have not had the myotomy so

I can't give you any personal experience but Cindi just wrote

an excellent story of her surgical experience. Be sure to read

that.

Congratulations Cindi on your recovery....seems you are doing

great.:)

Meghan, I am sure you will be hearing a lot of success stories

from members here.

Good luck,

Maggie

Meghan -

This is so weird...I must have been sending my experiences when you were writing your post. You can find them on message #15086. Hopefully that will help you. Are they doing it laproscopically? Do the surgeons have lots of experience with Achalasia? I would call & find that out ASAP. A Heller is definitely NOT a cure, but the closest thing we can find for now in many instances. & your age will help.

10 days post-op I am having no difficulty swallowing liquids or very smooth foods (applesauce, oatmeal). I have had a little stickage with things like scrambled eggs. I am not to do bread yet, so we will see on that. But I can definitely say I see about a 95% improvement. That sure beats dilations where I got MAYBE a 20% improvement! lol! Keep us posted & check on those surgeons!!!!! The best thing you can do is have an experienced surgeon.

Best Wishes -Cindi

Cong. it will be better. I just went thru my surgery and had my activation

March 27th and I can't believe the different even on the first day. It gets

better but it won't come all at once. I too am waiting to hear the birds

sing. Patsy

My experience so far exactly mirrors yours Gilad. I was implanted a week ago on

Thursday, and will be activated May 2. You will probably feel a bit under the

weather for a week or two, but if your experience is like mine, you will not be

too bad. Best of luck to you!

Surgery on Monday

Hello to everyone,

How are you doing? Hope everyone is alright, whether before, during

or after the surgery.

I have posted quite several times on this group, but have refrained

from doing so lately because I didn't feel this comfortable to

counsel in matters I hadn't yet experienced. Howeverm, my surgery

will take place this Monday, in merely two days, and I am very

excited. I tried to busy myself at school in the past few weeks so

as to avoid thinking about the surgery too much, but the tension

started soaring in the past week as the surgery came ever closer.

Now that it's going to take place in just two days I find myself so

excited to embark onthis new adventure. I hope everything will be

alright and I will be able to help others better on their way to

their own CI thereafter.

My activation will probably be in 4 weeks and I can hardly wait for

that to take place, get the first sounds I have never heard before,

like the birds and perhaps finally be able to understand others

without lipreading. I pray to God that it will help me hear better

than now. I just wanted to share my excitement with you all and will

update you how the surgery went as soon as I return home.

All the best to all of you!

Sincerely, Gilad

Hi Gilad !

Best of luck to you with your surgery !!

You will be up and about before you know it (took me about a week to

feel okay), and activated soon thereafter.

Enjoy the weekend, and take it easy.

Gil, best of luck Monday. Walk in to the hospital with your right foot first(my

late mom's philosophy) and all will be well. Don't worry, The surgery is a piece

of cake! These surgeons know what they're doing. When you feel up to it, let us

know how it went.

Hello Gilad

Best wishes to you for your surgery on Monday. I had my implant

surgery 3 days ago. Still no pain, but starting to feel a bit

fragile today. The doctor said to take things easy for a couple of

weeks, I should listen to him :-). I dont know why, but I was

expecting to have a stonking headache for a couple of weeks. It didnt

happen.

Good luck with everything Gilad! Which implant are you having? Make sure

you tell us how it all went for the sake of us still waiting and I am sure

that you will love the sound of birdsong. That was one thing I was

privileged to enjoy with my hearing aids before the loss. Around where I

live there are all sorts of interesting bird sounds - my favourite is the

Bell bird. It sounds just like a bell!

Best wishes,

.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers Monday. Be sure to take it easy for a

few days and try not to look down or move your head suddenly.

Keep up posted on how surgery goes.

Hello,

I am having a 3 level fusion on the 26th of June. Please keep me updated on

hoe you are doing. I am klooking foward to my surgery and hope when I wake up

from my long needed nap my leg pain will be less. Can't wait for my hubby to

relize how much I really do to keep the household afloat. My kids will be at my

mothers for a few weeks so they will not have to see me in the pain. I am

already practicing with my hubby by having him get me things while I lay on the

couch this way he will be a pro come June. Good luck to you and will keep you

in my thoughts. I wish you a speedy recovery and remember to take it slow and

let your body heal. Sherry

vivian and everyone who wrote, i love you all. i love this group and am

happy to be a member. i think we all need the support. pain is a tough thing

to deal with. but then again, you all know that. i cleared my calendar for

the entire month of june so if i need to i can just chill out the whole time.

i asked the restaurant next door if he would break the rules and deliver

food to me. and yossi, he is one of the owners, told me to call and he would

make sure i get fed. nice, huh? everyone has just been so supportive.

Take care Marsha and don't push your recovery. Taking the time now to take it

easy will benefit you in the long run.
