Guest guest
Cam, I will have to look into this research. I have this terrible feeling that in about 20-25 years they are going to modify their views of walking as well (for us fused to the sacrum folks) for the sake of SI joints and knees. Maybe I'm wrong, but it concerns me. I have not ever heard water fitness recommended as " weight-bearing " (I have several friends who use the idea that it's not as their excuse not to get in a swimsuit!), but would love to have evidence to the contrary. That might even justify a pool in my backyard... Thanks for the post! kam
Guest guest
Kam, I don't know if I can get to it this week while I am away from home...but I promise next week I will send you some links...you will definitley be able to write off a pool as a medical expense!!!! I get that same hinky feeling that " walking for fitness " may not be the best way to keep healthy joints for our overtaxed bodies. I am scared to death to be on the wrong side of that " learning curve " ! Cam
Guest guest
I've got plenty of time - no rush. > > Kam, > > I don't know if I can get to it this week while I am away from > home...but I promise next week I will send you some links...you will > definitley be able to write off a pool as a medical expense!!!! > > I get that same hinky feeling that " walking for fitness " may not be > the best way to keep healthy joints for our overtaxed bodies. Guest guest
You know, gals, it makes excellent sense. Pulling down or kicking out on a pulley-weight machine isn't weight-bearing in the strictest sense, but it is resistance training. The resistance of water ought to be able to do the same thing. I'll do my post-op walking, but as soon as I'm allowed it's back in the pool! Sharon [ ] Re: Weight bearing exercise..to Cam > Cam, > > I will have to look into this research.
