LOL I have done the same thing so many times. Not with shoes but things I enjoy. I know I will pay for it later. At the time I don't care and do it anyway. This line fits me to a tee. JC

Dear Kam,

I'm so sorry! I have never temped fate by trying those type of shoes, I do miss them, but my Mom's outfit usually just requires tennis shoes. I have learned from your lesson! I was just eyeing some cute wedge sandals like we used to wear in the late seventies and thought I'd get a pair, and try, but why risk fate. I hope the pain resolves itself soon, and thanks for posting this!

[ ] choices and consequences

On Wednesday, I attended a luncheon hosted by the hospice care group that cared for my grandmother. I also had a "professional dress" commitment and finally found a dress and shoes (that I already own) appropriate for both appointments. The problem is/was that the shoes were heels...stable heels, but heels nonetheless. I convinced myself that I've been feeling so well, it wouldn't hurt to wear them for a few hours...I haven't managed to get out of bed today - feels like a pinched nerve. You know, that aggravating extremely deep in the hip flexor shooting down into the foot kind of sensation that makes you want to hit someone or scream. Muscle relaxers and pain meds helped me get to sleep last night, but when I woke up, it was back. Could be that I aggravated my piriformis...maybe it's SI pain...but whatever it is, I know WHY I'm in this boat and wish that on occasion I could have a more cautious personality.Stupid is as stupid does. That's me right now. A complete idiot.kam

Kam,

I am sorry you are laid up today. I hope you rebound quickly, and when

you do....get your grabber and take every shoe that you have that has

anything less than a flat footbed and drop them in the trash so you

are not tempted again! I know you love shoes and challenges, so make

it your personal challenge to find stylish shoes that DO NOT HAVE

HEELS!!!!

We have stood by as she put the cigs out of her life, and we

can help you too! I am here personally to help you stand up and

say, " Hi, my name is Kam, and I am a shoe-a-holic " . If you feel the

need to put any shoe on your foot that is not a flat, you can call me

any day or night, and I promise to talk you out of it. You CAN beat

this thing.....

Hugs, Cam

Oh, how I can relate! I have paid the price also. When I made my

first foray back to church after my surgery, I decided to wear a

pair of wedged sandals thinking that they would be better than heels

& they were comfortable. My daughter told me I was crazy, but did I

listen? Anyway, after the service, I could hardly make it back to

the car, and the next day was a total loss because I was in such

pain. I have so many cute shoes that I am going to have to ditch &

start all over again. But it is a small price to pay for the pain

free life we have now isn't it?

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Cam - You made me laugh and cry (really, I'm just sort of leaking)!

Thank you for that.

- I think you are more cautious than me as a general rule. I hope

to attain a small portion of your current wisdom before my time on

earth is done!

JC/Nan - Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one. Nan, at

present (I'm afraid Cam is on target with the shoe-a-holic diagnosis),

it feels like a medium price rather than a small price. And I'm

wondering...if a shoe-a-holic goes out on a mission to find great shoes

that aren't heels, is that progress or disguising the illness? Hmmmm.

You gals are the best. Thanks for shining a little light on this bummer

of a day...

Don't throw the shoes away--donate them to a local thrift store or

goodwill type store. There are always poor people who need shoes and

clothes....

Carol,

We donate items quite consistently. I'll make sure that the shoes have

an opportunity for a good home!
