Guest guest
Ha. Doug. Feel lucky, it could have been spongebob squarepants! I was wondering how many of you are getting allergy injections and xolair? I have been having tests run at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN month and they mentioned to me that some people are having less reactions to the shots because of xolair. I have been on and off the allergy shots while taking the xolair but so far have not noticed any relief from the usual negative reaction to the allergy shots (more asthma, congestion). I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. Tony

I went off of them 2 years ago and my asthma got terribly worse. I was building back to my maintenence dose of allgery shots while I was taking the Xolair. My doctor thinks that I am doing so well at the present time because of Xolair AND the regular allergy shots. Doug
Guest guest
Tony et al: I went off shots altogether since Xolair was helping so much, so I'm not sure if my usual reactions would have been less. I can't stand the way I feel the 48 hours after getting my allergy shots, and they're not that big a help anyway, so it wasn't worth staying on them to test that hypothesis. I have wondered if folks on Xolair and immunotherapy should have their scratch tests done again to see if they need lower levels of allergy serum. I don't know. Doug, maybe they are using a different stripper/wax? Glad it didn't bother you! I am finally feeling a little better. I managed to wedge an hour yesterday to see my pulmo and he was out sick. I was so mad. I really need to see him. He will be out of town all next week for a conference so it will have to wait. I was able to taper down to 10mg pred today, thank God. Still taking Advair 500 and may decide to do so all winter. I gained 5 lbs over the last month due to all the pred. Still, 5 is not bad. Take care all, Addy
Guest guest
Hi Addy Glad to hear you are feeling some better. I sure sympathize with you on the weight gain. It seems no matter what I do I keep packing it on while I'm on the pred. I had my 3rd Xoliar shot yesterday and I had gained another 2 lbs since my last biweekly shot. Oh well, I guess it was better than the 4 lbs I gained the time before. My Dr cut me down to 20mg of pred for the next 2 weeks and if I can handle that hopefully I can cut down more the next time. My Dr assures me that when I get off the pred, the weight will come off and I'll get rid of my chubby cheeks too. I got a treadmill this week and am going to walk on it every day, maybe this will help some too. I haven't felt better from the shot yet this time, like I did last time, but with the holiday and having company, I'm sure I've really overdone a bit. My folks left yesterday, and I'm going to take it easy today and see what happens. Also we went to the airport yesterday and to a Honda store to pick up a ATV for a christmas present, it seemed like the odor in there bothered me some, so maybe thats why. -- - In , " pyle456 " <coachmac@w...> wrote: > > > Tony et al: > > I went off shots altogether since Xolair was helping so much, so I'm > not sure if my usual reactions would have been less. I'm just wondering. I've been able to get off the pred (YAY) but not the Advair yet. ~~Jody > Jody, I get the same side effects, but most people I know do NOT get the side effects. I have talked to a handful of physicians about this and they say with most people you do not get anywhere near the side effects of the inhaled steroids than with prednisone.
