Guest guest
Martha, Could you please post more information on the Florida meeting, for the benefit of others? Where is it? When? Thanks, Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: MARTHA SBI-Talkegroups Cc: egroups Sent: Friday, September 29, 2000 8:46 PM Subject: NSIF.Org Website Hi Ladies, I may have neglected to tell you that our website has to be accessible to anyone with any form of disability -- that is part of what we & our website team will be judged on. So once the site goes up on October 1st, it may not be totally finished & polished to perfection, however, it will be accessible to any form of disability for which there is software to use! Oh how I wish I was now in Florida for the first SISS Meeting. Please send my "Howdy's" & "Welcomes" from TX, to all attendees! I'm so excited for all of you and certainly know how hard you all have worked to pull this group together. We all need each other, and will for many years to come now! Guest guest
Hi Patty, I think it was today! I haven't been home long enough to get through all my emails, as we spent 12 hours with the website team. I apologize for not posting more about that meeting, however, Helman has been posting on both & SBI-Talk egroups for the past week or so. I've been with the website team off & on for the past week and haven't kept track of things too well! When is the NV group planning their first meeting? Our Website has a page for " Upcoming Events Calendar " , and so far the only thing we have posted for that page is " October is " Breast Health Awareness Month " ! BTW, please help me pass the word that I " jumped the gun " on when NSIF Website would be up --- I didn't know until today, that it will not be up for the public until October 8th, after the judging is completed! 'Sorry 'bout that! Guest guest
When is the NV group planning their first meeting? Our Website has a page for "Upcoming Events Calendar", and so far the only thing we have posted for that page is "October is "Breast Health Awareness Month"! The Nevada meeting for silicone affected women was held on September 30 at the County Library from 1-4:30 pm. There was a tremendous showing of injured women, including several silicone injectees. Also present was our wonderful Charlotte Mahlum, who many of you know prevailed against almighty DOW in her lawsuit against them for the harm she sustained from her rupture silicone implants. For those who aren't aware of this case, Dow kept on appealing the judgement against them in the Nevada public trials until the next stop was the US Supreme Court--then they got scared and decided that they better settle with Charlotte out of court! Can you imagine if it had gone to the US Supreme Court and they lost what it would have meant for all silicone affected women across America???? It took Charlotte 9 years to reach the settlement that was bittersweet justice to her (she still walks with a cane). I met many wonderful women there, including our Phyllis who was just explanted on Sept. 20th. She is a beautiful woman and looks very good for what she just went through! Channel 3 news was there as well, and interviewed Joy, and I am so ashamed that I didn't catch her last name, because she and Caroline Bromm got the whole meeting arranged. Joy is a wealth of information and a fighter for all silicone injured women. She has a website at Homestead or Mindspring, can't remember which. Her attorney conducted the large part of the meeting, in which we discussed an amendment that is currently in California regarding the statute of limitations and how it applies to all silicone harmed women, and getting that waived, as that seems to be the biggest hangup in lawsuits. (Like any of the women were supposed to know to file a lawsuit against Dow within 2 years of their first symptom, when all the doctors were saying "Implants are safe, they don't cause disease, they will last a lifetime", yada, yada, yada). It is something having to do with Section 340.8, added to the Code of Civil Procedure....sorry I don't have more info, as I arrived just a tad late. We who had saline implants were in the minority at this meeting; however, I still felt that it was wonderful to be able to connect with many of the silicone sisters in the Las Vegas Valley. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Thanks so much for this report! I'm excited to know that we are continuing to reach so many women who need information and help. I am NOT excited that we have so many more now than we did in '94, yet I cannot see the numbers dropping anywhere, as long as any form of these implants continue to be on the market. This part saddens me that we have not yet been able to keep so many others from being severely harmed, yet all we can do is continue to raise public awareness of this " Largest Medical Debacle in History " ! I wish I could have been at the meeting in NV and FL this past weekend, as I do have a " few million words " to say on this BI issue! Thanks for a great job, Martha Murdock, Director National Silicone Implant Foundation Dallas, TX Headquarters -----Original Message-----From: Patty <faussettdp@...> egroups < egroups>Date: Monday, October 02, 2000 6:58 PMSubject: Re: NSIF.Org Website When is the NV group planning their first meeting?
