The website states: "Do your hams or turkey breast contain glutens? We have reformulated our glaze to be considered free of allergens. This means our hams and turkey breasts DO NOT contain glutens." But when I got to the store, because no one there even knew what gluten was, and could only point to a 10 yr. old plaque that was plastered to the register with one single ingredient list (which contained "wheat starch" not to mention "corn syrup" which was most disappointing) in answer to my question as to which of the baked or smoked turkeys was gluten free, after a 30 minute ordeal there, I passed. I had even mentioned the website, but they insisted the formula had not been changed, so I retreated home and e-mailed the company. Here is the reply that I received today: "The gluten free formula is for the South East division of the Honey Baked Ham Company. You may have visited a store outside of our division." SERIOUSLY?! I am waiting for a next reply from them. But can you believe this? Their NATIONAl website says it's gluten free, but apparenlty, that only applies if you live within certain states-- only, there is no indication of that on the website!! Guest guest
Honey Baked just sent the following reply: There are different divisions of the HoneyBaked Ham Company and they do have different ingredients. When you visit the main website which is www.honeybaked.com you will be asked to specify what state you reside in. Once you pick the state, it will direct you to the division in your area. You will need to visit the website for our California division to find their nutritional information. They may have gluten free products but I am not sure. Here is their contact information: Mailing address: 623 S. Brookhurst Anaheim CA 92803 Phone: 800-854-5995 Fax: 714-772-3529 Email: shipping@... Honestly, it's not even worth it. If I am home in New Orleans having a Honey Baked ham, I guess it's okay, but then here it may not be. I am just considering their company irresponsible and therefore not " trustworthy " r/e gluten-free status. No more Honey Baked for me. Guest guest
ACK!!! I ate honeybaked ham at Thanksgiving based on their website. I didn't react though. I sometimes wonder how sensitive I really am. I am not a huge fan though. One year we ordered a whole meal for Christmas and the gluten-free items were horrible! Guest guest
I called Honey Baked Ham yesterday as a matter of fact - I saw on the San Diego celiac website that Honey Baked Ham is now gluten- free. Wrong - at least in California. The Honey Baked hams in California have wheat starch in their honey ingredient - can you believe it? However, if you order the ham on Honeybakedonline.com (mailed and sent from Georgia), it is gluten free in Georgia! This is so confusing! Guest guest
That is just so ridiculous! At this point, I don't know that I'd trust them anyway?!
