Guest guest
I don't find a link to the Hornsby site, but going by quite a few comments on other sites, Hornsby probably is NOT GF. One site seems to be quoting the Hornsby FAQ, saying it isn't GF. However, it doesn't give the link, so I can't check it out. Several sites recommend Woodchuck Hard Cider. I like Ace, which I believe to be GF. And it's local! Lower carbon footprint for us! H. I believed it was an exception to the rule that caramel color is not sourced from wheat if made in the usa. I was definitely quite sickly afterwards, in addition to being drunk. Guest guest
I can't say for sure on the gluten, but that stuff is so nasty that I'd think you could react to several of the other ingredients. Try Ace (at TJ's) or some of the other cider brands that are made from real fermented apple juice instead of artificial ingredients. I've actually found several real cider brands that say " Gluten Free " right on the label. Guest guest
I think it was GF at one point…I remember I heard of it/tried it/served it for the first time at the SF Cooking Spree (, wasn’t it you I was paired with?) maybe the ingredients have changed? Guest guest
Hi Yep, I worked with you behind the bar at the cooking spree. I was sure up to that point that Hornsby was not GF but when I saw that we were serving it...I thought I was mistaken. I agree that Hornsby is probably the worst of the bunch. I bought it on a whim. I do love Ace (and you can find it on tap more often lately!!) and Strongbow is always good.> From: Tom <michellesf5589>> Subject: [ ] Hornsby Cider> > Date: Sunday, November 9, 2008, 6:43 PM> Is Hornsby GF? Guest guest
Wyder's is GF - they have posted the results of their testing right on their website. http://www.wyders.com/gluten.html Maureen > > > I don't find a link to the Hornsby site, but > going by quite a few > > comments on other sites, Hornsby probably is NOT GF. > One site seems to be > > quoting the Hornsby FAQ, saying it isn't GF. > However, it doesn't give the > > link, so I can't check it out. > > > > Several sites recommend Woodchuck Hard Cider. > > > > I like Ace, which I believe to be GF. Guest guest
Ace Cider is local and definitely gluten-free. They have pear ciders etc. You can visit their brewery in Sebastapol- I highly recommend it. http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/gluten-free-dining-adventures-ace-in-the-hole-cide\ r-pub-414.html - > > > > I like Ace, which I believe to be GF.
