Guest guest
Hi BarbaraAnn, Nystatin, in any form, will kill candida only in the digestive tract. The liquid will not kill anywhere in the body other than the digestive tract, which includes the intestinal tract. Incidentally, the prescription Nystatin given out contains sugar which does not help matters. My doctor gave me Nystatin powder which I mixed in water and drank. No sugar. He also told me not to eat sugar. It helped a lot.

Guest guest
Barbara, Despite a year and a half of immunosuppresants, I still seem to have a very strong immune system. Ordinarily that's a good thing but I'm not so sure it is considering that I have an autoimmune disease. I've always been resistant to flu, viruses of any kind and infection. I've had few infections in my entire life. Since I've been on pred and Imuran, I haven't had a cold or flu and only one infection - from a cat bite - which turned out to be very serious and even dangerous. Otherwise, I seem to be as resistant as I ever was. Right now I'm developing some deep chest congestion and have a major cough. In the past, I haven't seen a doctor for this kind of thing because the usual remedies have always worked. I drink hot lemonade for congestion, take a couple of aspirin and take an over the counter cough medication if the cough bothers me, and that's it. I'm seeing a new internist Monday and will see what he says about it, but otherwise, I'm not really worried. However, I'm curious about whether others who have specific autoimmune diseases and who have been taking immunosuppressants, are still apparently resistant to infection? Could this be something that will turn out to be a problem? Ever heard any discussion about this? Talk to you later. I'm still trying to plow my way through 250 e-mails and I've lost track of where I am. That's besides dealing with a variety of house guests for the past two weeks (and they haven't all been pleasant.) Take care, Geri
Guest guest
Hi Geri, I am new, as of today, and have been reading the mail. I too have found that after being on the immunosuppresants that I seem to be healthier. Before I would get ill very easily and couldn't fight it off, since taking the drugs I seem to be soo much better, fewer colds, flus, etc. I have no idea if this is a good thing or not, other than I don't need to take more drugs to fight off the infections. I will introduce myself a little later, must go right now, Lynn Geri Spang wrote: > From: Geri Spang <spangs@...> > > Barbara, > Despite a year and a half of immunosuppresants, I still seem to have a very > strong immune system. Not that they had the sensitivity to care. Geri
