Maureen just called to report Amici's in San has sold ten gluten

free pizzas today (Wednesday). She and got the last one!

They are trying to get additional crusts from the Dublic location, but

please call ahead if you are planning on hoping for a gluten free pizza

until they adjust supply to the demand of pizza crazed Celiacs <GRIN>!

We almost went there last night, so good thing we didn’t! Does

anyone know if the Cupertino location will serve the GF pizza anytime soon?

That’s much more convenient for us. Is there someone we could contact to

request it?

I just called them yesterday. They said there won't be any other places serving gluten free for a while, but indicated that it will happen at some time. Ivers

The sales representative that sells the gluten-free " Still Riding

Pizza " to Amici's is LaRae Bates. Her phone no. is (925) 595-7030,

and her e-mail address is larae.bates and then at

stillridingpizza.com (I don't think e-mail addresses display when we

sent e-mails to each other so I typed her e-mail address this way).

LaRae was at the Oakland meeting and she is traveling all over the

Bay Area selling these g-f pizza crusts to restaurants, explaining

how their sales can rise by attracting celiacs and their families to

eat in their restaurants and also training the staff regarding cross-

contact issues.

We also should be calling the other two Amici's in Cupertino and Mt.

View and asking if they are carrying them yet to give them incentive

to start carrying them.

Amici's in Cupertino is at 10310 S. DeAnza Blvd. (408) 252-3333.

Amici's in Mt. View is at 790 Castro St. (650) 961-6666.

Whoo Yoo! Eating pizza in an actual pizza restaurant! We have come

a long way since I was diagnosed 6 years ago!

What is the 'oakland meeting' you are referring to? Is there gf group

Can anyone tell us what size the crusts are? Are they equivalent to a small

pizza or what?

And what did a 1-topping pizza cost at Amici's?

If you send an e-mail to bayareaceliac and then " @comcast.net " (e-

mail addresses sometimes do not display on this group), Martha

will put you on the list to receive the Bay Area Celiac newsletter,

which is e-mailed out about once a month or so that lists all of the

meetings in the Bay Area.

The Oakland group meets at Kaiser in Oakland every 3-4 months or so.

They had a Kaiser gastro doctor there last month, and that is where I

met the " Still Riding Pizza " rep that is selling the g-f pizza crusts

to restaurants around the Bay Area. Everyone brings a g-f potluck

dish to the meeting to share (along with a list of the ingredients in

your dish).

After the Oakland meeting, we drove to the Amici's in Dublin to order

a g-f pizza to go. I think I ordered it with about 3 toppings. It is

approximately the size of a medium pizza, maybe? The sticker shock

of the price of the pizza sent chills down my spine ($25!), but to be

able to order a g-f pizza at a pizza restaurant was just too good to

pass up. It was pretty good. Not absolutely delicious like real

pizza, but pretty good.

After the Oakland meeting and before heading to Dublin for pizza, we

first went to the Mariposa Bakery in Oakland (okay, we love to make a

day of eating g-f!) .....and ate slices of pizza at Mariposa, too! It

is really close to the Kaiser building where the Oakland meeting is

held. Mariposa's pizza was tasty and a lot more affordable! We also

picked up some yummy bagels! I understand that Kapcakes has

delicious birthday cakes available to buy at Mariposa.

They are mediums, 13 " I think, and almost $5 more than regular pizzas

of that size. The four of us (2 adults, 2 kids) went and ordered 2

pizzas, and they were about $22 (cheese) and $26 (2 toppings). ouch.

We ate one and a half, with leftovers enough for the kids to have for

dinner. On one hand, that was really expensive pizza! But on the

other, being able to take our Celiac kid out for a nice restaurant

meal that she really enjoyed was totally worth it. We thought they

were pretty good. The crust is nice and thin and had a good texture

and taste. The restaurant is kind of upscale for a pizza place, not

necessarily a cheap place to eat even without the GF markup.
