Guest guest
Where did you get this info re: MSG, because everything I've read about it says it is always gf? Guest guest
Lots of people have a bad reaction to MSG, but I just wanted to point out that it's not because of gluten. MSG is gf. One thing to think about is MSG. It can be hidden in foods by another name. I'd eaten something without gluten and couldn't figure out why it was making me sick. It was a Thai Kitchen Rice Noodle Bowl. It wasn't a one time thing. I'd had the reaction before but just ignored it. I started searching ingredients and discovered hidden MSG. The product had Autolyzed Yeast Extract in it. I can't eat anything with that or I have gluten like reactions. http://www.truthinlhttp://www.thttp://www.truhttp **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Guest guest
As I understand it, lots of celiacs first have health issues with MSG way before they are diagnosed with the disease. I was allergic to MSG as a pre-teen and would come home with migraine headaches. I wish I understood the link between Celiac disease, MSG and the link to being on long term antibiotics. I was on something for acne for three years in high school, I am 42 now. My naturopath that diagnosed my wheat allergy, 8 years ago, thought there was a link between MSG, and antiboitics and CD. I love that soup companies are not getting behind the anti-MSG campaign. I've accepted this disease and my fate, don't feel sorry for myself but just curious to know how it happens to go from dormant to "active" in the body. Heartd from other CD people that they had similiar histories. Guest guest
Not all MSG is gluten-free. It is likely to be gluten-free if manufactured in North America, but it can utilize a gluten-containing grain or by-product in the manufacturing process, or as an ingredient- and this is a distinct possibility with MSG manufactured overseas. The typical allergy-like response to MSG in the US is likely due to a separate sensitivity rather than a gluten issue. - > > Lots of people have a bad reaction to MSG, but I just wanted to point out > that it's not because of gluten. Guest guest
I haven't heard that they are connected... and really don't think there is a direct link, for what it is worth. *shrug* Celiac is also different than a wheat allergy... not that one can't have both, but they are different things. - > > As I understand it, lots of celiacs first have health issues with MSG way before they are diagnosed with the disease.
