Guest guest
Dear , I saw on Larry King about a year ago, she has had many surgeries, and has a lot of degeneration in her spine, and is extreamly painful, poor thing, at her age and health not much more they can do for her. I also know one of Fergie the Dutchess of Yorks daughter's had scoliosis surgery. Here's a list of the famous with Scoliosis I found online: Gellar-actress Janet -Olympic Swimmer Isabella Rossellini-actress andra Marinescu- Olympic Gymnast Russo-Actress Liza Minelli-singer/actress Daryl Hannah-actress/activist Dern-actress Kurt Cobain-Rock singer YoYo Ma-Cellist Very accomplished people in sports, music, and acting. Colorado Springs [ ] Celebrities with Scoliosis I saw on TV about a year ago and she was in a wheelchair. I recall her being asked about that and her reply was that she'd had scoliosis most of her life and it had caught up with her.I've done a little web surfing but haven't been able to find any details. And, the pool player, I can't remember her real name, but she's called the "Black Widow" because she wears black and wins most every tournament. She had scoliosis surgery w/HR fusion when she was young, and several years back a heard somewhere that she was starting to have some problems again.I just wonder, has anyone heard of these and of any celebs (besides us!) - G

Guest guest
That's really interesting information about . Also, I find this whole idea of researching celebrities with scoliosis is interesting too.! It makes me feel like our " condition " may not be so isolated after all. And who knows, maybe if we could find a celebrity with scoliosis and " coax " them to come out of the closet with it making it more public, perhaps it might fuel more dollars into scoliosis research and perhaps someday even prevention. In the very least it could afford us a way for our doctors now to know how properly treat this disease/deformity? Some fame and fortune going into scoliosis research could help us all, and would definitely help the next generation of those yet to be be diagnosed with scoliosis.! Excellant idea, and a great discussion! You guys rock! Carol > > I saw on TV about a year ago and she was in a > wheelchair. Guest guest
Oh, wow I love Yo Yo Ma. I never knew he had scoliosis. 1980 surgery would probably mean Harrington rod. Guest guest
That's interesting, . I'd just done a cursory look online and read that his surgery was 1980. Must have been off. I'm a disabled piano teacher (esp. Suzuki method) and lover of fine music. Sharon [ ] Celebrities with scoliosis I am a retired string orchestra teacher and cellist. I have followed Yo Yo Ma's scoliosis. His surgery was after mine (1981) by a couple years and I think I remember reading that he did not have Harrington rods. He had whatever immediately followed them - perhaps Luque? I imagine that is why he is still standing so tall. (VA)
