Probiotics - Of course I had already thrown away the box, but I

called where I get mine and they told me the web is

essentialformulas.com, phone number is 972-255-3918 and finally, the

store I get it (Vital Nutrition)is at 1-800-875-8658.

My son takes 1 wafer of Nature's Bounty Chewable Acidophilus with

Bifidus. Each wafer has 50 mg. acidophilus & 50 mg. bifidus, and one

billion microorganisms per wafer. It is cheap (around $6-$7 per 100

wafers--100-day supply for my son), and is (reading the bottle label):

" guaranteed free of: yeast, wheat, gluten, milk or milk derivatives,

lactose, preservatives, soy, artificial flavor, sodium (less than 5 mg.

per serving). " It is flavored with natural strawberry flavoring, and you

can purchase it at WebRx or most Walgreen's stores.

I love their other products too. I like the company--affordable, but

still high quality.

The only problem with paradophilus (which I also use) is that it is really expensive! I don't know if the effectiveness is worth the expense. The SCD Probiotica is just as effective and much cheaper. Just my experience.

Just because, I choose Dr. Ohar's It is raised and shipped alive at

room temp. with it's own food supply. that way it is more apt to

survive and be absorbed. I have had good success with it. I have also

used Natren, which must be refridgerated, it is good too. Jim H. says

that if you run into problems with your gut while on MMS you should

try Paradopholis to restore the gut. I so far have had no problems

but if I do I will follow his recomendations.

But is the SCD the same as paradophilus? Seems that I recall that the para is what probiotics are made from, not a probiotic itself. I know people have gotten a "rush" when first starting para, but then it wears off after just a few portions--but they are assuming that it is still working. You don't find this to be true?

No, that did not happen to me. The only way to tell is to try the different brands and see what works best for you and your husband. I just think the para is too expensive and most people cannot afford it. They need to know there are other more reasonable alternatives that work just as well.

Its called SCD probiotica. It is made from a bunch of cultured vegetable and fruit products concentrated. It tastes like vinegar, kind of.

If you want more info just google it.

Absolutely--you are right. I'm always looking at alternative things for expensive products--because normally there is something that will work, if not as good, then pretty close. However, there are a few cases when the expensive thing IS the only product that does what it says it does--for certain people. It takes experimentation, that's for sure. And sometimes (many times) we cannot experiment because of the costs.
