Guest guest
Draegers.com is pretty close – los altos and Menlo park. It’s a high end grocery store. Lots of good stuff. Wholefoods www.wholefoods.com also has plenty of stores in the area and here is a link to their gluten free list…they have a great gf frozen section with the best bread and pastries I’ve tasted. http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/specialdiets/NC_SMT_Gluten_Free.pdf From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of celeszta2515 Sent: Sunday, November 16, 2008 11:21 AM Subject: [ ] GF Products Next week we'll be traveling to Mountain View to spend Thanksgiving there with family. Are there stores in the area where I could find breads? Stuffing mixes? Pastries? Thank you so much for any info! Guest guest
You could try Whole Foods in Los Altos (next town over from Mountain View, but might as well be the same town) as it is the most convenient. You can get Whole Foods GF Bakehouse products and Mariposa GF brownies etc in the freezer case near the protein bars and baked goods. I happen to prefer the Cupertino Whole Foods for having a slightly better GF selection, but it depends on what you're looking for. They are a bit far. You can also try Country Sun in California Avenue- technically Palo Alto I think. They are smaller, more expensive, but have some interesting products. http://www.countrysun.com/retailer/store_templates/shell_id_1.asp?storeID=D51F5C\ 28A6CD4D2BA22F22F3D576EA94 I don't shop much at Draegers, but I probably should. I've heard good things. Also, Nob Hill (in Mountain View) is a regular grocery store but they have a reasonably good health food section for snacks. They're slightly yuppie and slightly pricey. There's a place with GF Pizza in Mountain View on Castro, down the street from a coffee shop called Spica. I'm not a huge fan of the latter, but the owner does have some GF stuff on the menu, supposedly. http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/gluten-free-pizza-restaurants-amicis-in-san-jose-m\ ountain-view-vacaville-or-dublin-california-2394.html http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/gluten-free-dining-adventures-spica-171.html (Note that I can eat that bread is no longer available. Not sure what Spica serves anymore.) If you get a chance to go to the city (SF)- although actually, it's in Oakland, I highly recommend Mariposa bakery for pre-made baked goods, especially awesome pizza. It is made in a GF environment. Hope this helps. Enjoy Mountain View- I lived there for four years. - (now in Sunnyvale) > > Draegers.com is pretty close - los altos and Menlo park. It's a high > end grocery store.
