I'm having dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in SF on Friday. Has anyone had good luck there? I seem to remember someone saying they had a GF menu...?

Re my episode of anaphylactic shock after eating sushi from a good source: my doctor said it could have come from something other than the fish -- paper the fish lay on, for example. He said a trace amount of just about anything could have caused it. However, raw fish is, he said, particularly risky in terms of severe allergic reaction. I went to Kyoto a year afterward, a guest at an inn noted for sushi, sashimi. I declined, as tactfully as possible. I think my host thought I disliked the food. The one time I emailed the Cheesecake Factory corporate offices about eating

there, they advised me not even to try, as they were certain there would be

cross contamination in their kitchens from the baking. So even if they now have

a GF menu, I would be worried.

…I should have mentioned I got a piece of plain broiled fish,

steamed veggies and white rice…still felt ill afterwards.

I agree with Maureen. I've eaten there a few times and have gotten sick. Even their corn tortilla's have flour on them!

They should do some sort of gluten free menu because they are such a big chain that is popular...it's a bummer!

I am super sensitive and I had success there with the chicken " medallion " entree but this was a little while ago... you should be savvy about what questions to ask, etc. when eating there. Maybe check it out beforehand if possible when they aren't too busy. Good luck.

I'm afraid I have to chime in with a thumbs down on Cheesecake Factory,

unfortunately.

Although things may have changed by now, the one time I took my family there the

only thing my daughters could and would eat was ice cream, since they don't care

for salads.
