Guest guest
Hi Sharon: Maybe I am finally going to get the hang of this, thanks to you. Yes, my surgery being at the end of July in New York this something that I think about everyday. I think I'll be able to tolerate the post operative halo traction okay, but the thought of an intimation tube frightens me to no end. I mean when I was a kid I would wake of the surgery and the tube had already been removed, but now in my more mature years :-) they always want to leave the intibating tube in for several days. I understand this is because they want to be sure of your lungs working properly, but I almost think I would rather have tracheotomy again other than that tube down my throat. In the meantime I'm dealing with the sciatic nerve pain, so far I'm having a pretty good day, but tomorrow I go to the pain clinic, but I'm trying to put off any injections as long as possible. Has anyone heard of the“Passy Muier Valve?" It is supposedly a type of tracheotomy but you can still talk normally, this sounds good to me. Thank you again, and hello to everyone, ieDelicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living.

Guest guest
Hi, ie I'm glad to see you're getting the hang of using the forum. And it's great that Melinda has replied! Have you discussed the trach tube issue with Dr. Boachie? I know every case is different, but I had 3 surgical dates and even after the anterior/posterior one I awoke with the trach tube out. They left it in over night after the A/P surgery, but I don't remember it. So if you haven't been given the lowdown on what to expect in that department, I hope you will before the big event.
