Guest guest
Has anyone checked the gluten status of chocolates lately? They're a Bay-area company. A couple of years ago I remember reading that they were GF. Chocolate is something I want only occasionally, so I haven't followed up on this. A rep for chocolates lives next door. I never see her, myself, but my daughter does. My daughter passes extra roses and rosemary and lemons over our back fence; the woman gives her chocolates. It isn't a trade, just a happy exchange of small gifts. I must remember to have my daughter ask about gluten when the two next see each other. H. I forget how exactly the listing is, but it's more than just the equipment caveat. I remember reading it when I was buying mother's day chocolates. I miss their chocolate covered dried fruit. Oh well. Cheryl **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. Guest guest
Wow re: Schurra's - I don't see how I could have missed it on the label - I have since thrown the box away (garbage day was yesterday) so I can't quote all the ingredients. This was a prepackaged box of chews and creams. Ugh. No wonder- my husband's DH rash came back too. Next time I see them boxed I am going to read through it again just for my sanity. > > Has anyone checked the gluten status of chocolates lately? They're a > Bay-area company. Guest guest
I just spoke with someone at Schurra's who read me all the ingredients on the box I had. The only ones that could be suspect are: - " coffee liquor " - " emulsifier " - " glucose " - " natural and artificial flavorings " he claims if there was " gluten " in the chocolate it would be listed in the ingredients. So I am guessing that the glucose syrup they use comes from wheat. All I know is that is the first and last time I will ever eat Schurra's chocolates and I have now learned my lesson to always assume " glucose " is from wheat unless explicitly stated otherwise. I have been very lucky so far as I am sure I've had products with " glucose " w/o incident. > > > > Has anyone checked the gluten status of chocolates lately? > They're a > > Bay-area company.
