My family is holding a party at Kuleto's Trattoria tomorrow night, and I called to explain my dietary issues to the woman helping organize the event. She was incredibly unhelpful -- she just kept pointing me toward the option of gf pasta and telling me I should just ask the server tomorrow about any other options on the menu that were gf. So imagine my surprise when she called me back to tell me to speak with the manager, who it turns out is intimately familiar with celiac (her mother-in-law has it) and who has been slowly turning Kuleto's gluten free! ALL of their sauces and marinades are gf, all of their entrees are gf (other than the veal, which can be made gf easily, and some of their pastas, which can't be replaced with their gf spaghetti), their gf pasta is cooked in a separate, clean pot with fresh water, they have dedicated gf utensils, their soup of the day is always gf, and the minestone can be made gf (the pasta is added after the order is placed, so just ask for them not to put the pasta in). She is hoping to offer in gf pizza and breadsticks in the future. They do serve bread and make pizza, so you do have to make sure when you order to let them know you have celiac and need those items kept far from your food. But how nice not to have to worry about flour-thickened soups and sauces!

If you do go there and your server doesn't seem to understand anything about the dietary needs of someone with celiac, ask to speak with , the manager.

For the first time since I was diagnosed I'm looking forward to going out to dinner at a new restaurant!
