I've never tried to eat GF in the city, but I do know that there is a

pizza place in the Sunset District that is now doing GF pizza. Here's

the information.

Eagle Pizzeria

1712 Taraval Street

San Francisco

415-566-3113

Hope this helps!

Cafe Gratitude is gf except for their beer and the wheat grass they use for drinks. But the food is excellent and definitely gluten free. They only use gf tamari.

Zadin's terrific, too. The owner doesn't have anyone with celiac in her family, but she has a close friend with the disease whom she cooked with regularly and so got used to cooking gf.

Cafe Gratitude claims to be completely gluten free.  All their food is raw, so it's good, but different: http://www.cafegrathttp://www

Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley told me they are not completely GF and have

sprouted wheat at some locations now, and in general could have cc in

the kitchen at any location. This was maybe 6 mos. ago.

This isn't true of the locations in San and San Francisco, which I've eaten at in the last couple of weeks. And they assured me that the wheat grass is never added to the blender used to make the fruit juice blends (though I still avoided them just in case). No sprouted wheat anywhere at those locations according to the people working there. I don't know why sprouted wheat would be such a cc issue anyway - it's pretty obvious where it is and where it isn't.

Thanks for the link to Zadin as I was planning to go there today.

I often eat at Cafe Gratitude but you should know that they do still

use wheatgrass as it is considered to be gluten free. Personally I

don't choose to risk it so I avoid anything with wheatgrass. I know

itt is in the key lime pie and added to smoothies but there could be

more so you should verify that there is no wheatgrass or " Vitamineral

green powder " (barley and wheat grasses I think) in what you want to

eat if you want to be extra sure. My personal favs are the pesto

pizza, miso soup, mushroom pate and crackers and coconut pie. YUM!
